Mormon Dilemma 621

Book of Mormon Challenge

D&C 67:6-8; “Now, seek ye out of the Book of Commandments, even the least that is among them, and appoint him that is the most wise among you; 7 Or, if there be any among you that shall make one like unto it, then ye are justified in saying that ye do not know that they are true; 8 But if ye cannot make one like unto it, ye are under condemnation if ye do not bear record that they are true.”

Isn’t it interesting that the same challenge is made in the Quran –

Sura 10:38-39: “This Koran could not have been forged apart from God; but it is a confirmation of what is before it, and a distinguishing of the Book, wherein is no doubt, from the Lord of all Being. Or do they say, “Why, he has forged it’? Say: ‘Then produce a sura [scripture] like it, and call on whom you can, apart from God, if you speak truly.””

2 Timothy 3:16; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Scripture, meaning the Bible, is inspired as Paul so poignantly says here and shows us these aren’t written at the whim of man.

If the Book of Mormon, or the Quran for that matter, was written by God then why do both books take man’s focus away from the cross?

Today’s dilemma wasn’t chosen so much to disprove the writings of Mohammed as much as it is to show how uninspired these two examples are. They aren’t from God, nor were they written by inspired men of God.

Those who wrote the Bible weren’t aware it would be difficult for anyone to try and reproduce.  They were commanded by God to write and that’s what they did. Stopping to challenge others to produce a work like theirs is prideful and takes glory from the Lord!
