False Prophecies of Mormonism Life in the Blood

“The Law and the Light,” Book of Mormon Symposium, BYU, October 30, 1988; “I declare the gospel to be both true and inclusive of every true element of any philosophy, indeed the gospel is a fulness of the truth in all of them…After the transformation caused by the Fall, bodies of flesh and bone and blood (unlike our spirit bodies), would not endure forever. Somehow the ingredient blood carried with it a limit to life. It was as though a clock were set and a time given. Thereafter, all living things moved inexorably toward mortal or temporal death. Temporal, I repeat, means temporary.” – Boyd K. Packer

Colossians 2:8-10; “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”

This man has uttered a few false teachings in just the two small examples taken from the very long speech he gave. You’ll notice these lies that he keeps propagating are directly from the false prophecies of Joseph Smith. 

First of all Mr. Packer told his BYU audience the gospel includes truth from wherever you can gather truth.  That’s a lie. The gospel has one meaning; good news. And that truth came from one place, not many and that was Jesus. 

Secondly, Mr. Packer said after Adam and Eve sinned a transformation came about in their bodies. He’s referring to the Mormon theory that Adam and Eve had no blood when they lived in the Garden of Eden (Preach My Gospel, pg 50). This is not a biblical teaching. This comes from the invention of Joseph Smith. They wouldn’t have been alive without blood. 

Thirdly, Mr. Packer stated that “somehow the ingredient blood carried with it a limit to life”. The Bible tells us that blood of all creatures is life itself. Leviticus 17:11-14. 

So by teaching that Adam and Eve had no blood he lied and by teaching erroneous information about what God said regarding life in the blood he has lied. 

Lastly, Mr. Packer lied when he referred to people having spirit bodies. There’s nothing in the Bible indicating any such thing.

The saddest part of all this is the most important message he failed to give is obvious to believers I’m sure! 

There is eternal life in the shed blood of Jesus when He was sacrificed on the cross for our sins!  Thank You Jesus, thank You Father!
