Hebrews 11:19; “Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
In Hebrews 11:19 the transliteration of the word accounting is logizomai, and it means to reckon, think upon, take an inventory of, reason…
God doesn’t want us to have blind faith in anything. He wants us to understand what we’re doing, be of sound mind, and think things through before making a determination in our own minds about something. Abraham took Isaac up to the mountain, but it wasn’t without asking why. Even the Bereans checked up on what the apostles told them before they committed themselves to Jesus – Acts 17:11.
Holding your tongue for the sake of peace isn’t always admirable, nor is it wise. Today’s dilemma shows what can go wrong when we’re too afraid to call out sin. Jesus said not to fear those who can kill, rather, fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell – Matt. 10:28.
Our inheritance isn’t of this world and neither should our loyalty be to those who malign God and His word. Mormonism was wrong on many levels, but it got worse when people like those Whitmer mentioned wouldn’t stand up to Joseph Smith.
