Today we’re taking a look at what the LDS Church has peddled at doorsteps around the world. It’d be laughable if not for the untold tragedies left in its wake.

If you’re LDS, we pray the info here gives you pause. Ask yourself why there are so many variations to Joseph Smith’s story that came straight from Smith himself. These aren’t made up ‘anti-Mormon’ stories, rather, these are firsthand accounts of what he said happened in a grove of trees.

If someone showed up on your doorstep with so many contradictions about a major life event, would  you believe them?

When I was a member  of the Church I always thought I was just confused again, or mistaken about things I was taught. After I left, I realized I had a pretty good memory after all…

The following synopsis of events is so confusing it’d make the most confident person stop, and wonder what they just read. It’s amazing they have young folks barely out of puberty, telling the oft repeated story of another youngster in a grove of trees. (more…)

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22

As we’ve been updating our site/blog, there are some articles we feel the Lord has told us to repost as a reminder of what Mormonism is all about. Today we’re looking at Joe Smith’s witchcraft activities. This Mormon Dilemma was originally posted in 2013.

D&C 8:6-9, 11 “Now this is not all thy gift; for you have another gift, which is the gift of Aaron; behold, it has told you many things; 7 Behold, there is no other power, save the power of God, that can cause this gift of Aaron to be with you. 8 Therefore, doubt not, for it is the gift of God; and you shall hold it in your hands, and do marvelous works; and no power shall be able to take it away out of your hands, for it is the work of God. 9 And, therefore, whatsoever you shall ask me to tell you by that means, that will I grant unto you, and you shall have knowledge concerning it. 11 Ask that you may know the mysteries of God, and that you may translate and receive knowledge from all those ancient records which have been hid up, that are sacred; and according to your faith shall it be done unto you.” (more…)

1 John 4:1 “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

It’s well known the entire infrastructure of the LDS Church rests upon its claim of authority.

According to their claims, the body of Christ fell into a complete apostasy upon the death of the last living apostle of Christ c. 100 AD. Therefore, God needed to enact ‘plan b’, to get his body of believers up and running once again.

Since the time of Joseph Smith, each leader has taken a turn at providing colorful descriptions of Christianity’s dismal state, and the need of a restoration. After all, if the Christians hadn’t fallen into such state of disarray, there’d be no need for Mormonism.

First off, I have to admit that I’ve never been able to figure out how Joe Smith was able to translate gold plates as he gazed into a hat while magical sentences, and/or letters appeared…be that as it may…

Today proved to be an interesting day in the Lord! I received an e-mail from a good friend and fellow ministry worker, Lee Baker. He told me, and others, about the Church’s latest announcement made earlier today. See Ensign, ‘Joseph Smith: Strength Out of Weakness,’ December 2017 for the full story.

They’ve officially recognized Smith was gazing into his hat while translating the gold plates! Boy, oh boy, right? Wrong!

Aaronic Priesthood restorexd by John the BaptistToday we’re looking at the way Mormonism was originally designed to operate. How did it come about? Under what, or whose authority does it operate?

We’re asking why an un-baptized Joseph Smith baptized Oliver Cowdery, when neither of these two men held the Aaronic Priesthood. About a year ago we talked about an article in the LDS ‘Friend’ Magazine when a young person had written in asking what it meant to hold the priesthood.

This time around we’re looking at the mechanics of what took place the day Smith and Cowdery claims that John the Baptist as well as the apostles Peter, James, and John appeared to reactivate God’s priesthood!

Three Witnesses TestimonyWhenever someone examines the testimony of the three Book of Mormon witnesses, the first thought one might have is how it comes across as sounding very official with their use of the phrase, ‘be it known’.

In my personal experience with Mormonism, I elevated these men, making them superior to myself, and believed they were impeachable because of their supposed status.

David W. PattenHistory of the Church 2:190; “The Blessing of David W. Patten David W. Patten’s blessing: O God, give this Thy servant, a knowledge of Thy will; may he be like one of old, who bore testimony of Jesus; may he be a new man from this day forth. He shall be equal with his brethren, the Twelve, and have the qualifications of the prophets before him. May his body be strong and never be weary; may he walk and not faint. May he have power over all diseases, and faith according to his desires; may the heavens be opened upon him speedily; that he may bear testimony from knowledge; that he may go to nations and isles afar off. May he have a knowledge of the things of the Kingdom, from the beginning, and be able to tear down priestcraft like a lion. May he have power to smite his enemies before him, with utter destruction. May he continue till the Lord comes. O Father, we seal these blessings upon him. Even so. Amen.” – February 15, 1835

Mormon Decisions 10An Address to all Believers in Christ, p 61; “When it became generally known that these important changes had been made in the Book of Doctrine and Covenants, many of the brethren objected seriously to it, but they did not want to say much for the sake of peace, as it was Brother Joseph and the leaders who did it. The majority of the members – poor weak souls – thought that anything Brother Joseph would do, must be all right; so in their blindness of heart, trusting in an arm of flesh, they looked over it and were led into error.” – David Whitmer

Mormon Decisions 10Messenger and Advocate, Vol. 2, No. 7, pp 289, 300, April 1836; “I  am aware, that many who profess to preach the gospel, complain against their brethren of the same faith, who reside in the south, and are ready to withdraw the hand of fellowship because they will not renounce the principle of slavery and raise their voice against every thing of the kind. This must be a tender point, and one which should call forth the candid reflection of all men, and especially before they advance in an opposition calculated to lay waste the fair States of the South, and set loose, upon the world a community of people who might peradventure, overrun our country and violate the most sacred principles of human society, – chastity and virtue.” – Joseph Smith

Mormon Decisions 10Today we’re asking a few questions about the Book of Mormon witnesses! The BoM is the keystone of Mormonism and should be studied in-depth by those claiming that it’s the word of God.

Many times we’ve found that the majority of Mormons don’t know what’s in their beloved canon and have no idea the BoM doesn’t contain major doctrines of Mormonism. Making matters worse, they don’t have a solid understanding about the witnesses to the Book of Mormon.

Poor ***!” – December 16, 1838

Insofar as our knowledge of the universe extends, there does not appear a single instance of annihilation throughout the material system…it appears highly probable, that the work of creation is going forward in the distant regions of the universe, and that the Creator is replenishing the voids of space with new worlds and new orders of intelligent beings…” – Oliver Cowdery

Mosiah 8:9, 13; “And for a testimony that the things that they had said are true they have brought twenty-four plates which are filled with engravings, and they are of pure gold. 13 Now Ammon said unto him: I can assuredly tell thee, O king, of a man that can translate the records; for he has wherewith that he can look, and translate all records that are of ancient date; and it is a gift from God. And the things are called interpreters, and no man can look in them except he be commanded, lest he should look for that he ought not and he should perish. And whosoever is commanded to look in them, the same is called seer.”
