Book of Mormon: Reformed Egyptian & Hebrew Changed, Plates too Small, but All is Inspired & God will Figure it Out

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 244 “On the 523rd page of the fourth edition, it reads: “And now, behold we have written this record according to our knowledge in the characters which are called among us the Reformed Egyptian, being handed down and altered by us, according to our manner of speech; and if our plates had been sufficiently large, we should have written in Hebrew; but the Hebrew hath been altered by us also; and if we could have written in Hebrew, behold, ye would have had no imperfection in our record, but the Lord knoweth the things which we have written, and also that none other people knoweth our language; therefore he hath prepared means for the interpretation thereof.””

We originally posted this a few years ago, but have updated it with more info for the reader. …

Message from the angel Gabriel told Joseph of the Bible:

Matthew 1:21; “Call his name Jesus for he will save his people from their sins…”

Message from the angel of light Moroni told Joseph Smith:

Joseph Smith History 1:33; “…my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues…”

The one sure thing that hasn’t changed since Matthew put ink to papyri is the message he recorded that came from God’s angel, Gabriel. The story hasn’t changed. You won’t find a reputable source divulging any information outside what we read in God’s word. While it sounds simplistic, it had to be one of the most profound messages known to mankind.

‘Call His name Jesus’…it’s the segue to discovering how God intervened on man’s behalf through the soon-to-be-born child, Jesus, the one and only Savior of the world.

Philippians 4:8; “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

John D Lee sitting on his coffin before executionToday I received my daily e-mail from TodayinMormonHistory.com which served as another reminder of why I left the Church.

In the annals of LDS history lies a treasure trove of sermons the Church would love to have either disappear, or stay in the dark closet from which they were birthed. For the sake of truth, we’re pulling them from their dusty shelves as a grim reminder this church isn’t the family-oriented organization as seen on t.v.

Three Witnesses TestimonyWhenever someone examines the testimony of the three Book of Mormon witnesses, the first thought one might have is how it comes across as sounding very official with their use of the phrase, ‘be it known’.

In my personal experience with Mormonism, I elevated these men, making them superior to myself, and believed they were impeachable because of their supposed status.

Mormon Decisions 10Mormon Doctrine, pg. 327; “Moroni deposited the plates in the Hill Cumorah in about 421 A.D., and then as a resurrected being revealed the hiding place to the Prophet on September 22, 1823. Four years later the Prophet was permitted to obtain possession of them, but the actual translation of the portion we now have as the Book of Mormon did not take place until between April 7 and June 11, 1829. Thereafter the plates were returned to the custody of Moroni. (Jos. Smith 2:27-65; D. & C. 27:5; Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, pp. 215-226.”

mormon_missionariesYesterday I made a comment if the missionaries knocked on my door today I’d ask them about D&C 27:11 that’s still cemented in LDS canon.  Well guess what?

As I was putzin’ around the house this evening a knock at the door told me I wouldn’t be doing that for much longer…

Mormon Decisions 10Mosiah 8:9; “And for a testimony that the things that they had said are true they have brought twenty-four plates which are filled with engravings, and they are of pure gold.”

BoM Witnesses; Evil or Good?

salt lake mormon temple 2D&C 3:12-13; “And when thou deliveredst up that which God had given thee sight and power to translate, thou deliveredst up that which was sacred into the hands of a wicked man, 13 Who has set at naught the counsels of God, and has broken the most sacred promises which were made before God, and has depended upon his own judgment and boasted in his own wisdom.”

The Language of the Egyptians

Mosiah 1:4; “For it were not possible that our father, Lehi, could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates; for he having been taught in the language of the Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings, and teach them to his children, that thereby they could teach them to their children, and so fulfilling the commandments of God, even down to this present time.”

“And God was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…”

While doing some research for an article in the Book of Mormon I came across Mosiah 7:19.  Here in part is what it says;

“…put your trust in God, in that God who was the God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob…”

Now I ask you the reader if you’ve ever come across this phrase.

I am also wondering when God stopped being the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…hmmm…it makes ya wonder about Mr. Smith now doesn’t it?

Creation

Why doesn’t the Book of Mormon contain the teaching that more than one god created the earth if it supposedly contains “the fullness of the gospel”?

Abraham 4:1; “And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.”

March 20 – Ex. 12:9 says; “Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it”.

_____

God was rather clear when He told the Israelites not to eat raw meat, but in the Book of Mormon this isn’t a problem with their god.  Ask them why this would be so.

_____

1 Nephi 17:2;  “And so great were the blessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon raw meat in the wilderness, our women did give plenty of suck for their children, and were strong, yea, even like unto the men; and they began to bear their journeyings without murmurings”.
