February 7 — Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 341 “President Joseph Smith again arose and said—In relation to the power over the minds of mankind which I hold, I would say, It is in consequence of the power of truth in the doctrines which I have been an instrument in the hands of God of presenting unto them, and not because of any compulsion on my part.” (more…)

August 4 — A Chance to Die. Galatians 2:20-21 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” (more…)
LDS Church Teaches Missionaries to Speak in ‘Adult Language’

The talk we’re looking at today has to be one of the strangest I’ve seen in awhile. For the sake of brevity, I’ve pulled a few quotes to compare w/ God’s word.
Church News, 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar
The Book of Mormon is the most powerful written witness in existence that Jesus is the Christ…said D. Todd Christofferson…on Sunday, the opening day of the 2019 Mission Leadership Seminar.
This is obviously a lie. The Bible gives us everything we need to know for salvation and have a life here filled with His Spirit.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Yet too few of the Church’s missionaries, he noted, routinely teach from the scriptures. They often cite personal experiences, anecdotes or object lessons to explain gospel principles. Such techniques lack the “power of conviction” that comes from the scriptures. …
It’d be difficult to teach from something that contradicts itself, is sleepy, and plagiarizes the Bible. (more…)
Contradictory Mormon Tithing Definitions

Leviticus 27:30 “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.”
Last week we came across an interesting article on Reddit where someone posted a request for info on all the definitions for tithing the Church has used over the years.
He listed a few examples from LDS canon, and offered a small monetary reward if someone could add to his list. As you might imagine, the Church’s definition of tithes is all over the board. Today we’re comparing part of that list with God’s word.
One thing is certain. The Church has gone to great extremes in confusing its membership. Check out what they’ve said – (more…)

Mormonism’s Hypocritical Racism Gives False Sense of Equality

General Conference, ‘Prepare to Meet God,’ April 2018; “As we look at the primary purposes of the Church, they are all based on equality before the Lord and following the culture of the gospel of Jesus Christ. With respect to missionary work, the principal qualifications for baptism are humbling oneself before God and coming forth with a broken heart and contrite spirit. Education, wealth, race, or national origin are not even considered. …The Savior additionally explained that everyone is our neighbor. The Book of Mormon makes it clear …We must be united and equal before God.” – Quentin L. Cook

Why Did Moroni Deliver the Gold Plates on September 22?
By Book of Mormon Central | Sep. 22, 2016 Mormon Life
“…Moroni’s annual visits occurred generally around the time of the Israelite harvest festival season. The initial visit on September 21 in 1823 coincided with that year’s celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles. In 1824, September 22 was the eve of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and the beginning of the fall festivals.”
