One glaring problem in the Church News Report below is timing. You’ll want to notice the date this was written. It was 1992. Why are they using the phrase ‘electronic media’? In 1993 only 1% of the info available on computers was available to the public. A Pew Report stated that only 3% of American households had signed on to the internet by 1995

While Mr. Asay busied himself with calling people deceitful, it’s odd he never applied the same terminology to himself.

LDS Church News, “’Anti-Christs’ Employ Similar Patterns of Deceit” “…When we read about the anti-Christs of former days, we marvel at how perverted their thinking became, and we marvel at how successful they were in deceiving men and women. We also wonder why some of the people were so gullible—so easily misled. And with all this marveling and wondering, we tend to niche the anti-Christs in some corner of ancient history and go about our unguarded ways. This is dangerous. It could result in loss of faith; and, in a spiritual sense, it could put us out of existence.”

Journal of Discourses 1:87 “Where shall we begin to improve? I don’t know of anything better calculated to improve our union than to have some wide meshes in the net, to let those slip through who don’t wish to be gathered, and to unite with the rest. There is an accumulation here of the good and the bad, the chaff and the wheat, the tares and the good grain, the good and bad fish which the Gospel net gathers. The only safe way is for the good and bad to be separated. I like to see the roads open, the snow disappear from the canyons, that spirits not congenial to the Gospel of peace may go as many roads as there are points of the compass. Such movements give opportunity for the Saints to draw the cords of union still closer. May God bless you all. Amen.” — Parley Parker Pratt, Great Salt Lake City, March 27, 1853. (more…)

Mormon Decisions 10Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, (2011), Chapter 27: ‘Beware the Bitter Fruits of Apostasy,’ pp. 315–26; joseph smith 1“There is a superior intelligence bestowed upon such as obey the Gospel with full purpose of heart, which, if sinned against, the apostate is left naked and destitute of the Spirit of God, and he is, in truth, nigh unto cursing, and his end is to be burned. When once that light which was in them is taken from them they become as much darkened as they were previously enlightened, and then, no marvel, if all their power should be enlisted against the truth, and they, Judas-like, seek the destruction of those who were their greatest benefactors.”

Mormon Decisions 10Church Handbook of Instructions, Vol. I, p. 78; “Bishops and their counselors must take exceptional care when issuing recommends to members whose parents or other close relatives belong to or sympathize with apostate groups. Such members must demonstrate clearly that they repudiate these apostate religious teachings before they may be issued a recommend.”

Mormon Decisions 10Today we’re asking a few questions about the Book of Mormon witnesses! The BoM is the keystone of Mormonism and should be studied in-depth by those claiming that it’s the word of God.

Many times we’ve found that the majority of Mormons don’t know what’s in their beloved canon and have no idea the BoM doesn’t contain major doctrines of Mormonism. Making matters worse, they don’t have a solid understanding about the witnesses to the Book of Mormon.

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 4:49-51; “I would ask how many covenant breakers there are in this city and in this kingdom. I believe that there are a great many and if they are covenant breakers we need a place designated, where we can shed their blood… And we have women here who like anything but the celestial law of God; and if they could break asunder the cable of the Church of Christ, there is scarcely a mother in Israel but would do it this day. And they talk it to their husbands, to their daughters, and to their neighbors, and say they have not seen a week’s happiness since they became acquainted with that law [plural marriage], or since their husbands took a second wife…” – Jedidiah Morgan Grant, Salt Lake City, September 21, 1856

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 11:221; “Where did this commandment come from in relation to polygamy? It also came from God…When this system was first introduced among this people, it was one of the greatest crosses that ever was taken up by any set of men since the world stood…When I see any of our people, men or women, opposing a principle of this kind, I have years ago set them down as on the high road to apostacy, and I do to-day; I consider them apostates…” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, April 7, 1866

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 3:226; “The time is coming when justice will be laid to the line and righteousness to the plummet; when we shall take the old broad sword and ask, ‘Are you of God?’ and if you are not heartily on the Lord’s side, you will be hewn down.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, March 2, 1856

Apostates must Suffer

Mormon Decisions 10We’re taking a look at the latest Ensign and want to provide pointers on how to use this as a witnessing tool for your Mormon loved ones!

Ensign, “Dear are the Sheep that have Wandered”, June 2013; “My dear brothers and sisters and friends, my message this morning is one of hope and solace to heartbroken parents who have done their best to rear their children in righteousness with love and devotion but have despaired because their child has rebelled or been led astray to follow the path of evil and destruction…Successful parents are those who have sacrificed and struggled to do the best they can in their own family circumstances.”

Apostates and the Salt Sermon

James 5:9; “Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

The purpose of this article is twofold.  I pray the Mormons will see how God uses His creation for His own purpose.  (Romans 13:1)  The other is to show Mormon and non-Mormon alike, how the hatred in the heart of some people rules their own world regardless of what members of the Church say publicly today.
