Polygamy Removes Curse

Journal of Discourses 13:207 “I believe the correct practice of this principle will redeem woman from the effects of that curse—namely, “Thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” All the evils connected with jealousy have their origin in this. It is natural for woman to cleave to man; it was pronounced upon her in the beginning, seemingly as a punishment. I believe the time will come when, by the practice of the virtuous principles which God has revealed, woman will be emancipated from that punishment and that feeling. Will she cease to love man? No, it is not necessary for her to cease to love.” – George Q. Cannon, October 9, 1869, Salt Lake City

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Journal of Discourses 24:184 “Has there ever been a doctrine declared by the authorities of this Church, as a part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that they have had to take back or modify? Not one. Has there been anything in the organization that has had to be perfected? No. The organization was as perfect in theory—being revealed of God—50 years ago as it is today…That constitutes the strength of this work. It is its infallibility. Not that man connected with it is infallible, for he is fallible; but the work itself, its principles, and everything connected with it, is infallible, having a divine origin, being revealed of God.” —  George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, July 15, 1883 (more…)

In the Church’s habitually feeble attempt at looking Christian, they’ve taken another step back in the recently issued Official Statement last month. We’re wondering how they fulfill the tall order of their latest statement of condemning white supremacy, and the one from their prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, if they’re not denouncing their past. They’ve condemned themselves by their own standards.

As most people are aware, the foundation of the LDS Church is built upon doctrines that have swayed greatly from biblical standards. Adding insult to injury, is their own canon.

Take a look at some of the past comments from highly respected LDS leaders, and as always, remember to pray for those caught in these lies. We pray the Lord will clear their minds, so they can see the inherent problems in the way they keep themselves enslaved to such contradictions!

We have no knowledge that plural marriage will be a requirement for exaltation.”

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 25:327-382; “Now let it be known throughout all Israel, as the word of the Lord to us for the present, through His servant who stands at the head, that a man who commits adultery, a man who has had his endowments, cannot be baptized again into the Church. Let it be known throughout all Israel, as the word of God through His servant, who stands at the head, that a man who has had his endowments and commitsCannon George Q whoredom, cannot now be received into the Church again. These must be cut off; because the law that was given in the early days of the Church concerning a man committing adultery once and being received back into the Church does not apply today. There has been a higher law since then, namely, the endowments, and men have taken upon themselves, and women also, sacred obligations in holy places. Therefore, hear it and understand it.” — George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, October 6-7, 1884

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 21:72; “The Lord is the same yesterday, today and forever. This is the cornerstone, it may be said, of our faith. It is upon this foundation we have built; that he is an unchangeable God; that he does not manifest his mind and his will in plainness and simplicity to one people, and hide the same from a succeeding people who are equally faithful. But the great truth has been impressed upon us; […] that God is no respecter of persons, that he is today as he was yesterday and as he ever was, and that he will continue to be the same being as long as time endures or eternity continues.” — George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, October 5, 1879

Mormon Decisions 10Today we’re continuing our look at a speech given by George Q. Cannon when he systematically rejected God and what He’s done for us. The importance of this speech in the annals of Mormonism is important and shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s one of the many times the LDS Church has gone out of its way to slam Christianity, and the rejection of Christianity is clearly still intact today.

Mormon Decisions 10Looking around for a quote the other day proved to be an interesting experience as I came across a talk given by LDS apostle George Q. Cannon. Just like his counterparts who trick people, he blathered on with lies about the body of Christ and didn’t provide any evidence for his damning accusations.

Our dilemma today and for the next day or two is a multi-part series as we look at this talk to compare it with historical facts, but most of all the Bible.

Mormon Decisions 10Daily Journal of Abraham H. Cannon, April 15, 1894, v. 18, p. 70; “Father [George Q. Cannon] now spoke of the unfortunate condition of the people at present in regard to marriage…. ‘I believe in concubinage, or some plan whereby men and women can live together under sacred ordinances and vows until they can be married…. such a condition would have to be kept secret, until the laws of our government change to permit the holy order of wedlock which God has revealed, which will undoubtedly occur at no distant day, in order to correct the social evil….’

Mormon Decisions 10Journal of Discourses 12:221, 223; “We are told, and very plainly too, that hot drinks—tea, coffee, chocolate, cocoa and all drinks of this kind are not good for man. We are also told that alcoholic drinks are not good, and that tobacco when either smoked or chewed is an evil.

We must prevent the use by them of every article that is hurtful or noxious in its nature. We must not permit them to drink liquor or hot drinks, or hot soups or to use tobacco or other articles that are injurious.” – George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, April 7, 1868

Polygamy and Mormon Church Leaders 10

George Q. Cannon

January 11, 1827 – April 12, 1901

Cannon George Q

George Quayle Cannon was the Church’s apostle for several of the prophets. Click here for the latest in our series on Polygamy and Mormon Church Leaders.

The over-riding theme in biographies written about him was how sad it was that he was forced into hiding when wanted by the feds for polygamy…it’s odd because no one forced him into anything!
