 March 11 — Ensign, ‘Thou Shalt Not Bear Fase Witness’, October 1994 “…the ninth commandment is a strong declaration against covenant breaking, oath breaking, and all forms of untruth, including exaggeration, gross understatement, fabrication, or the willful giving of any explanation not supported by the facts.

Even sharing the truth can have the effect of lying when we tell only half-truths that do not give a full picture. We can also be guilty of bearing false witness and lying if we say nothing, particularly if we allow another to reach a wrong conclusion while we hold back information that would have led to a more accurate perception. In this case it is as though an actual lie were uttered. (more…)

This edition of the Bible has the same text as the King James Version, but it includes special study aids, such as the Topical Guide, the Bible Dictionary, and footnotes referring to passages in other books of scripture and to excerpts from Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible….

thinkingimageFor the past several weeks Melissa and I have been organizing all the Mormon quotes we publish each day to make it easier to retrieve the info you (and we) need.  Don’t ask why I didn’t think of this beforehand…

As I was alphabetizing all these things I came across two very conflicting statements put out by the Church. They stood out like a sore thumb and once again reminded me of the confusion I always felt when I was Mormon.
