Miracles Nothing More Than Result of Natural Law

Man, His Origin and Destiny, p. 315 “There are thousands of miracles performed today, wonders that would astound our grandfathers could they suddenly see them. These miracles are as great as turning water into wine, raising the dead or anything else. A miracle is not, as many believe, the setting aside or overruling natural laws. Every miracle performed in Biblical days or now, is done on natural principles and in obedience to natural law. The healing of the sick, the raising of the dead, giving eyesight to the blind, whatever it may be that is done by the power of God, is in accordance with natural law. Because we do not understand how it is done, does not argue for the impossibility of it.” — Joseph Fielding Smith, 1954  [This is on p. 484 in non-electronic format.]

Matthew 24:24; “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

I came across Mr. Smith’s quote and thought it sounded eerily familiar. Little did I know, I was right. This is the 2nd time I’ve found one of the Church leaders denouncing the truth that God performs miracles. You can read the 1st quote at Miracles of Jesus aren’t True According to Brigham.

You can also see a chronological list of our Lord’s 37 Miracles at ‘Where is Jesus in Mormonism?’ on the right sidebar of the front page.

Our question for today is this –

Why would a true prophet of God place doubt in the minds of the members?

Beloved, no true believer doubts the power our Lord holds!! True believers extols the Lord’s mighty power – their very salvation is a miracle in and of itself!

How sad for those who’ve chosen to believe the onslaught of lies this church puts out, and it’s sad as well for those who tell the lies! Pray that Mormons will open the word of God and receive His truth!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
