The Father and Son’s Minister is the Holy Ghost

Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 435 “The Savior sought continually to impress upon the minds of His disciples that a perfect oneness reigned among all celestial beings—that the Father and the Son and their Minister, the Holy Ghost, were one in their administration in heaven and among the people pertaining to this earth. Between them and all the heavenly hosts there can be no disunion, no discord, no wavering on a suggestion, on a thought or reflection, on a feeling or manifestation; for such a principle would differ widely from the character of him who dictates them, who makes his throne the habitation of justice, mercy, equity, and truth. If the heavenly hosts were not one, they would be entirely unfit to dwell in the eternal burnings with the Father and Ruler of the universe. 7:276.” — Brigham Young [Note: this is found on p. 282 in non-electronic format.]

John 14:15-17 “If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

Which adjective in Mr. Young’s speech about our Lord was the worst? It’s hard to quantify how misled this man was, and tragically he passed the same ignorance onto LDS members.

1.Why did Mr. Young refer to the Holy Spirit as God’s Minister? His Spirit ministers to those who believe, but God certainly doesn’t act as an administrative liaison for Himself!

2.God, nor His Spirit resides in ‘eternal burnings’ as Mr. Young stated. This teaching actually started with Joe Smith who claimed that God resides in ‘everlasting burnings’. For more info see our article on this definition!

This speech serves as a sad example of the confusion we’ve seen when people leave the Church.

Please, pray for members to keep walking out of Mormonism, and into the arms of Jesus!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
