In April 1852 Brigham Young delivered a speech that was one for the record books. Yesterday we looked at a small section of this when he said ‘if Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost, it’d be dangerous to baptize females’.
Today we’re looking at a small portion of what he said beforehand to compare it with what our Lord says in His word. There’s no doubt his words are part of the reason why my people are always confused. To read his speech in full see link below.
Journal of Discourses 1:51 “It is true that the earth was organized by three distinct characters, namely, Eloheim, Yahovah, and Michael, these three forming a quorum, as in all heavenly bodies, and in organizing element, perfectly represented in the Deity, as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Question —
Is Michael the Holy Ghost?
Earlier in this speech Mr. Young stated that Michael the Archangel is Adam.
Now Isaiah 9:6 gives a great description for many titles of God but none of them reveal God is Michael the Archangel! In fact, there are nine verses in the Bible that refer to Michael the Archangel and none of them say he’s Adam, or God.
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Brigham went on to say…
… Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven.
If Adam is our Father in Heaven, how can he also be Michael the Archangel? In closing for today here’s the last thing we’re looking at from Brigham’s pulpit –
Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation. I have given you a few leading items upon this subject, but a great deal more remains to be told.” — Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, April 9, 1852.
Pray for Mormons to start questioning what their leaders teach today, and how the leaders got their info. Many times, it’s come from speeches like the one we’ve seen today.
With Love in Christ —

Pshaw! There, I did a bad thing. I made light of BY’s words b/c he was in cahoots with the devil. When a mere man makes a mockery of the Word, he is fair game for scorn. Oh how I wish/pray every mormon could see the lies and smell the sulphur!
That’s a great analogy! I’m reminded of what the air smells like the closer your get to Antelope Island in Utah. The smell of Sulphur starts filling the air about 2-3 blocks from the entrance to the park.
Likewise, the deeper you get into Mormon theology, the more brazenly blasphemous it becomes.
“But there were false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce you to destructive heresies., even denying the Lord that brought them.” (2 Peter 2:1,2)
In Hosea 4:6, the Lord tells us that His people will be destroyed from a lack of knowledge. People tend to listen to folks like Joe Smith, Brigham Young, Russell Nelson and Henry Eyring, because they are ignorant of God’s Word. God tells us to arm ourselves with the knowledge of scripture, just as Jesus did when he was tempted by the devil (Ephesians 6:17: Matthew 4:1-11).
People that have taken the time to immerse themselves in God’s Word
and to become familiar with God’s spirit, are not as likely to be fooled by the likes of Brigham Young. Why? Because God’s spirit warns them of the presence of a false prophets via the ability to Discern Spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10)
And therein lies the whole thing SoldierMP! Immersing yourself in God’s word is the best defense. His Holy Spirit reminds us of what we’ve learned from His word so we won’t be tricked. PTL!!!
Just another of too many contradictions in Mormon teachings.
The number of contradictions has always amazed me…
