LDS Holy Ghost Contradictions

Ensign, ‘Ordinances and Covenants’, August 2001 “Confirmation brings with it the promise of the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.” — Dennis B. Neuenschwander

Doctrine and Covenants 130:23 “A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.”

John 14:15-16 “If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”.

Yesterday we looked at part of a talk by a General Authority, and because Mr. Neuenschwander had numerous falsehoods in his speech for the next couple of days, we’re looking at some of the other things he had to say.

Today we’re wondering…

How can a confirmation bring the promise of constant companionship of the Holy Ghost when Joseph Smith clearly said otherwise?

If you’re LDS, whom do you believe?

As a Christian I can’t imagine not having the Lord’s Spirit with me at all times; day and night! There’s no fear that if I do something wrong, He would leave. He’s with me 24/7, through thick and thin.

The Bible also tells us that God takes up residence inside of the believer and we become His temple – 1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19. There’s no need to hope you’ll receive a temple recommend after paying 10% of your income, and no need of making appts. for dead works, or temple worthiness interviews with the bishop.

Having God’s Spirit inside of me also tells me I can trust what Jesus said.

If you’re LDS, we pray you’ll read the verses listed and seek God, not the approval of men.

With Love in Christ —

Michelle
