Enemies Will be Punished
Prophecy given March 20, 1839.
Joseph’s friends did indeed testify against him on many occasions. William Law (Nauvoo Expositor), Mormonism Unveiled by John D. Lee, An Address to All Believers in Christ by David Whitmer…many of those who spoke against Joseph didn’t have their hope blasted unless of course you’re talking about their hope in the Church or Joseph.
Also note the date of this prophecy; it was 1839. In April of 1838 more than a handful of Mormon leaders were ex-communicated and threatened they should leave the state of Missouri lest something befall them. http://lifeafterministry.com/2011/04/22/apostates-legacies-and-the-salt-sermon/
While some of the enemies of the Mormon Church did meet gruesome deaths, others died of old age, thus making it a false prophecy; in fact most of those enemies outlived Smith! The other thing that must be looked at is how the majority if not all of the prophecies/promises he made here turned out to be totally false!
The laws in Utah subjugated the everlasting covenant of polygamy and the unending revelation of blacks not holding the priesthood. The most basic of Mormon tenets have been broken in order to fall into line with the US government. Why didn’t their god protect these statuses?
