“The church is not the way to heaven; the church is the sign that points to heaven.” — Adrian Rogers
Hidden amongst the weeds of several talks at the LDS General Conferences you’ll find a handful of speeches reminding members they must stay true to covenants made to their god, aka, Mormonism.
One of their apostles, Dale Renlund, was hoping increased faith in their system could be transmitted like the flu. And while Mr. Renlund was dreaming of magical ways to retain their membership, another apostle, David Bednar, warned against anyone promoting false teachings like abortion.
Ironically, Mormonism isn’t a true anti-abortion organization. They have no problem with abortions if the health of the mother is in danger, or in the case of incest, or rape.
Still another apostle, Ronald A. Rasband, reminded members to follow the examples of others, but somehow Jesus wasn’t on his list.
We’ve listed their quotes below with the corresponding link for more info.
Apparently they’re still having problems with membership retention. You can see this in the numerous warnings of what happens to people when/if they leave their fold. It was also expressed in the talk given by a counselor in their Primary program, Kristina Franco, that we looked at yesterday.
We’re praying that while they’re busy using God’s word to defend themselves, (see David Bednar’s talk with Isaiah 5:20), they’d open His word up to read what God really says!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Reminder #1 –
General Conference, ‘Unwavering Commitment to Jesus Christ,’ October 2019
Dale Renlund
“It might be nice if increased faith were transmitted like the flu or the common cold. Then, a simple ‘spiritual’ sneeze would build faith in others…
Commit to a lifelong process of discipleship. “Make and keep covenants. Throw your old ways into deep, churning waterfalls. Completely bury your weapons of rebellion with no handles sticking out. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, making covenants with a real intent to reliably honor them will bless your life forever.”
It’s too bad Joe Smith didn’t commit himself to the same standard, eh? If he had walked away from the traditions of his parents practicing witchcraft, we wouldn’t be here talking about the evil he spread.
Reminder #2 –
General Conference, ‘Standing by Our Promises and Covenants,’ October 2019
Ronald A. Rasband
“The scriptures are full of examples of people keeping promises to others, like Ruth to her mother-in-law, Ammon to King Lamoni, and the Good Samaritan to the innkeeper taking care of the injured traveller. … I invite you to consider the promises and covenants you make with the Lord, and others, with great integrity, knowing that your word is your bond.”
Where’s Jesus in the list of examples? It seems He should’ve taken top billing in that exclusive list! Obviously they don’t believe Jesus kept His promises in the Bible – the proof is Mormonism itself.
Reminder #3 –
General Conference, ‘Watchful unto Prayer Continually,’ October 2019
David Bednar
“…spiritually dangerous ideas and actions frequently can appear to be attractive, desirable, or pleasurable. Thus, in our contemporary world, each of us needs to be aware of beguiling bad that pretends to be good. As Isaiah warned, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”1
In a paradoxical period when violating the sanctity of human life is heralded as a right and chaos is described as liberty, how blessed we are to live in this latter-day dispensation when restored gospel light can shine brightly in our lives and help us to discern the adversary’s dark deceptions and distractions.”
Mr. Bednar’s been a major player in Mormonism for a very long time. Surely he knows the Mormon rules about abortion. His comment is an easy lie to see though. Besides all that, what about Moses 5:11 where Eve praised God for their sin?
