General Conference, ‘Take Up Our Cross,’ October 2019 “…all of us, brothers and sisters, need to open our minds and our hearts in order to more fully understand the relevance of taking upon ourselves our crosses and following Him. We learn through the scriptures that those who wish to take their cross upon themselves love Jesus Christ in such a way that they deny themselves of all ungodliness and of every worldly lust and keep His commandments…

For example, for those who have not yet found an eternal companion and may be feeling lonely and hopeless…I assure you that accepting the Savior’s invitation of taking upon yourselves your crosses and following Him means continuing with faith on the Lord’s path…

The same principles apply to those of you who are experiencing same-gender attraction and feel discouraged and helpless…I want to assure you that there is always hope in God the Father…

He will do for us what we are not capable of doing for ourselves. …

Additionally, for those who feel bitter, angry, offended, or chained to sorrows for something you feel is undeserved, to take up one’s cross and follow the Savior means to strive to lay aside these feelings…

We cannot repent for other people, but we can forgive them— …we must remember that taking our cross upon ourselves includes being humble and trusting in God and in His infinite wisdom…” — Ulisses Soares (more…)

‘When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.’ John 19:30

Two comments by Dallin Oaks at General Conference serve as a reminder the Church isn’t following the true Jesus of the Bible. Our reference today was retrieved this from the Church’s Facebook page on the weekend of General Conference. See Dallin Facebook Video, or ‘Trust in the Lord’ video and transcript, for more info.

“Today at general conference I discussed what we know about the spirit world. I also shared that we should be cautious to not speculate about things we do not know.

That comment is a heads up! Mr. Oaks should’ve taken his own advice, alas, he chose instead to ‘teach for doctrine the commandments of men’ as it says in Mark 7:7. (more…)

General Conference, ‘Covenant Women in Partnership with God,’ October 2019 “You cannot know when, or for what length of time, your personal mission will be focused on service in calls such as mother, leader, or ministering sister. …Yet you know from scripture and living prophets that all of these assignments will come, either in this life or in the next…daughters of God must prepare for the call to be a leader for the Lord when it comes. … It takes much the same preparation when the Lord calls His daughters to be a mother.” — Henry B. General Conference, ‘Found Through the Power of the Book of Mormon,’ October 2019 “In order to progress toward true conversion, converts to the Church must experience the power of the truths contained in the Book of Mormon. … Each person is invited to allow the power of the truths of the Book of Mormon to find and embrace them once again. …

In order to progress toward true personal conversion, all converts must “experience and be found by the power of the truths contained in the Book of Mormon.” They must also make a serious commitment to God to strive to keep His commandments.” — Rubén V. Alliaud, General Authority Seventy (more…)

“The church is not the way to heaven; the church is the sign that points to heaven.” — Adrian Rogers

Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Hidden amongst the weeds of several talks at the LDS General Conferences you’ll find a handful of speeches reminding members they must stay true to covenants made to their god, aka, Mormonism. (more…)

‘…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’ Matthew 16:18

Today we’re looking at two quotes from a couple of talks given by two women at General Conference a few days ago.

The two women are Lisa Harkness, and Michelle Craig. To read their talks in full, see links in the article for each.

As a heads up, the numbering system we’ve used doesn’t reflect the order talks were given at the conference.

We’re praying our Christian friends will stop to pray for those who gave the talks, and those who heard their blasphemy. It’s obvious those in charge are just as confused as ever.

At the end, everyone must answer the question Whom Will You Follow? Will it be Jesus, or Joseph?

At first glance, a talk by one of the Church’s GA’s (Terence Vinson), seemed rather blasé as I skimmed over the contents. Upon my reading of it the second time, the numerous falsehoods became rather glaring.

This talk covered all the bases, if you will, for all the ‘isms’ you could possibly use showing how wrong Mormonism can be.

In it you’ll find contradictions, plagiarisms, anachronisms, and your everyday lies about salvation. The man who gave this talk is Mr. Terence Vinson, a General Authority in the ‘Presidency’ of the Seventy. He graduated with a Masters of Finance from Sidney University. As usual, for the sake of brevity we’re only looking at a couple of the key items. For more info, see General Conference, ‘True Disciples of the Savior,’ October 2019. One thing’s for certain, the man needs serious prayer, as do those who listened to him. Here we go!

“When the Savior and His gospel are the framework around which people build their lives, they can feel enduring joy. In Australia, the term “fair dinkum” means people are what they say they are — essentially, they do what they mean and they go “all in” when they say they are committed.

In the game of rugby, players find the greatest enjoyment of the game when they play their hardest and give their all by playing their best. The same is true in life and with the gospel. “Giving our all doesn’t mean that we will be continually enveloped in blessings or always have success. But it does mean that we will have joy.””

‘He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.’ Proverbs 10:9

If you’ve ever thought the LDS Church is softening on their attitude towards Christianity, here’s proof they haven’t. It didn’t take long to discover their hatred for the Lord couched in Mr. Holland’s talk at the Saturday session of their conference.

We found Mr. Holland’s comment about Christianity in the General Conference’s LDS Talk Summaries. To read his talk in full, see General Conference, ‘The Message, the Meaning, and the Multitude,’ October 2019.

Today we’re taking a quick look at a few key items from his talk. (more…)

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 24-25

There’s no doubt the Church busies themselves with the most mundane things in life. Taking time on a worldwide stage to announce they’ve modified temple interview questions is a good example of that! With deep pockets there’s ample opportunity to share truth, alas, they forego that blessing with each General Conference. Perhaps they’re ignoring what Jesus did in the temple…

‘And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves…’  Matthew 21:12

Instead of worrying about Jesus’ words, here’s what Nelson had to say via the Deseret News

“The crowning jewel of the Restoration …is the holy temple,” President Nelson said. “Individual worthiness to enter the Lord’s house requires much individual spiritual preparation. But with the Lord’s help, nothing is impossible. In some respects, it is easier to build a temple than it is to build a people prepared for a temple. Individual worthiness requires a total conversion of mind and heart to be more like the Lord, to be an honest citizen, to be a better example and to be a holier person.”

And as the Bible says, it’s easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven…

Question:

Why isn’t Jesus who died for the world the crowning jewel? May the good Lord have mercy on these people.

Below is a side-by-side account of the new and old version of questions. It seems the list gets longer with each modification without really saying anything new. The biggest thing was the difference between the old #6, and the new #7 where it looks like they’ve toned down their rhetoric. As the adage goes – they’re busy rearranging furniture on the Titanic…

Because the Church has publicly posted their interview questions, it gives the ‘outsider’ a perfect opportunity to ask a Mormon you know what they think of the Church modifying the questions repeatedly. If these truly came from the Lord, why is He always needing to change what He commanded?

Be sure to present the questions you may have for them in a loving manner. The quickest way to stop communications with a Mormon is to ask them about these things in an accusatory tone, even if your questions/concerns are legit. You also might share what Paul said about those who follow the law…

‘For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.’ Galatians 3:10

Paul’s insight should give everyone pause! Remind the Mormon you know that on this side of the cross, we live in grace, not under the Law!

Lastly, if you’re LDS, why would you say yes to question #4? Jesus is the only one on earth who should have authority in your life – not the president/prophet. Christians submit themselves to the authority of Christ, not man.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

‘Holiness, not happiness, is the chief end of man.’ Oswald Chambers

Well, it’s that time of year again.

Every October Utah’s chilly air seems to get colder faster as it carries a dark interpretation of the Mormon god who reminds everyone it’s General Conference time.

Melissa asked me to  check out a page on the Church’s site aimed at LDS children, hence, our focus today. As of Friday, October 4th, the Church’s front page offered several activities kids could do to help keep them focused on what speakers would be saying at the October conference. The main idea was for kids to color in the images of different items pertaining to the talk being given at the time.

You can also find the same info on their FB page here. As an FYI, we’ll be discussing their other talks throughout the week. For today we have a few questions, the first stemming from what it said on their FB page.

“Listen carefully to general conference, and when a speaker talks about one of the topics below, cover that square with a marker (such as a bean, button, or piece of candy). See if you can cover five squares in a row. Then see if you can cover all of the squares.”
