ChurchNews.com, March 11, 1994 “Although he is not specifically identified in the scriptural record, it is likely that Noah was the angel who “appeared . . . in a dream” to Joseph, reassuring him of Mary’s goodness, and telling him whose child she carried in her womb. (Matt. 1:18-25.) In our own day, Gabriel is listed as one of those who brought to Joseph Smith “rights . . . keys . . . honors . . . majesty and glory . . . and the powers of their priesthood; giving line upon line, precept upon precept; here a little, and there a little; giving us consolation by holding forth that which is to come, confirming our hope.” (D&C 128:21.)” — Larry H.  A few days ago, I read an article on the Church’s news website that caught my immediate attention.

One of their GA’s who’s also a church historian said something that I’d never heard before so today we’re looking at his comment. To read their article in full see link provided below.

TheChurchNews.com “‘Millions shall know Brother Joseph’: Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr. explains how … (more…)

ChurchNews.com “4 January 2019 In the scriptures, one learns that the Lord gives people objects to help guide His people through life’s challenges. One of these items was the Liahona.

“In our day, we have two physical items given to us that accomplish the same purpose of helping us navigate our path through life — our patriarchal blessings and the Book of Mormon. I encourage you to study the Book of Mormon and your patriarchal blessings,” Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in a Dec. 30, 2018, Instagram post.”” (more…)

Today’s post is a reminder of what Mr. Nelson declared in 2016.

We originally looked at this right after he made the speech in question.

Fast forward a few years and we see Mr. Nelson is on to other things he deems important like building a lot of new temples, and making sure the Church isn’t referred to as Mormonism. The biggest agenda seems to be reminding people they can have their own revelations as long as they fall in line with his.

Sadly, all those in attendance in that meeting five years ago accepted what he said without question, just as many are doing so today.

Please, pray for these dear people and for Jesus’ intervention! (more…)

1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils”.

Yesterday (July 15, 2020) the Church announced the publication of Eliza Snow’s Discourses anyone can read online.

In case you’re unaware, Ms. Snow was the 2nd president of the Relief Society, and older sister of Lorenzo Snow, the Church’s 5th prophet/president. She was the 14th wife of Joe Smith, and became the 10th wife of Brigham Young, 4 months after Smith’s death. She lived from 1804 – 1887.

The Church had nothing but glowing reports about Eliza. Here in part is what they said – (more…)

“Any of us who has prejudice toward another race needs to repent!”

Those words came from a statement published in the LDS Church News earlier this week. The Mormon prophet’s impassioned plea for peace, and repentance, hides itself in the shadows of history, not to mention their beloved canon; the Book of Mormon.

Their concern about racism falls way short, even by Mr. Russell’s own standards. Today we’re waiting for any sign of repentance from the Church for teaching the blasphemous theology they hold so dear. (more…)

‘And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.’ Revelation 1:5

LDS Gems, ‘The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles’ “He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice. He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary’s cross. He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth. We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary. He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.” — The Apostles (more…)

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 24-25

There’s no doubt the Church busies themselves with the most mundane things in life. Taking time on a worldwide stage to announce they’ve modified temple interview questions is a good example of that! With deep pockets there’s ample opportunity to share truth, alas, they forego that blessing with each General Conference. Perhaps they’re ignoring what Jesus did in the temple…

‘And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves…’  Matthew 21:12

Instead of worrying about Jesus’ words, here’s what Nelson had to say via the Deseret News

“The crowning jewel of the Restoration …is the holy temple,” President Nelson said. “Individual worthiness to enter the Lord’s house requires much individual spiritual preparation. But with the Lord’s help, nothing is impossible. In some respects, it is easier to build a temple than it is to build a people prepared for a temple. Individual worthiness requires a total conversion of mind and heart to be more like the Lord, to be an honest citizen, to be a better example and to be a holier person.”

And as the Bible says, it’s easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven…

Why isn’t Jesus who died for the world the crowning jewel? May the good Lord have mercy on these people.

Below is a side-by-side account of the new and old version of questions. It seems the list gets longer with each modification without really saying anything new. The biggest thing was the difference between the old #6, and the new #7 where it looks like they’ve toned down their rhetoric. As the adage goes – they’re busy rearranging furniture on the Titanic…

Because the Church has publicly posted their interview questions, it gives the ‘outsider’ a perfect opportunity to ask a Mormon you know what they think of the Church modifying the questions repeatedly. If these truly came from the Lord, why is He always needing to change what He commanded?

Be sure to present the questions you may have for them in a loving manner. The quickest way to stop communications with a Mormon is to ask them about these things in an accusatory tone, even if your questions/concerns are legit. You also might share what Paul said about those who follow the law…

‘For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.’ Galatians 3:10

Paul’s insight should give everyone pause! Remind the Mormon you know that on this side of the cross, we live in grace, not under the Law!

Lastly, if you’re LDS, why would you say yes to question #4? Jesus is the only one on earth who should have authority in your life – not the president/prophet. Christians submit themselves to the authority of Christ, not man.

With Love in Christ;

1 Cor. 1:18

The headliner in the Mormon owned newspaper, Deseret News, was probably meant to be a head-turner. Alas, such wasn’t the case for the many who took time to read what the LDS prophet ‘revealed’ on October 2, 2019.

Today we’re cutting to the chase. Melissa e-mailed yesterday with a link to their article. The only comment she made was, ‘It always comes back to sex with them, doesn’t it?’. (more…)

I Stand in Awe of You ‘Holy God, to Whom all praise is due, I stand in awe of you’.

I’m certain most people with an interest in Mormonism are well aware of the significance in today’s date in Mormon history. For those unaware, on June 27, 1844, Joseph and Hyrum Smith were killed in a shootout at a jail in Carthage, IL. The two brothers were awaiting trial when an angry mob stormed the building, ran up a flight of stairs, and were met with a shower of bullets with Joe Smith at the other end of a gun that had been smuggled in the night prior.

When the dust settled, Joe and Hyrum were both deceased, and another member of the Church (John Taylor), found he had been shot as well. For more info, see History of the Church 6:616-618.

Although we’ve posted on this subject in our witnessing tip today, I’d be remiss not to bring attention to the news feed I received in my e-mails last night.

The Church’s top apostle, M. Russell Ballard, wrote in the Church News that he hopes members will appreciate a few things on this, the 175th anniversary of Smith’s death. (more…)

Church News, 2 February 2019 “President Oaks acknowledged that some Latter-Saint couples face conflicts over important values and priorities. Matters of Church history and doctrinal issues have led some spouses to inactivity. Some spouses wonder how to best go about researching and responding to such issues. “I suggest that research is not the answer,” he said.” — Dallin Oaks (more…)

Salt Lake Tribune “In a Thursday announcement, church leaders confirmed that children of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender parents may be blessed as babies — a tradition within the faith — and baptized without the need for approval from the faith’s governing First Presidency.

Couples in a same-gender marriage would also cease to be subject to automatic disciplinary action. “While we still consider such a marriage to be a serious transgression,” a church news release states, “it will not be treated as apostasy for purposes of church discipline. Instead, the immoral conduct in heterosexual or homosexual relationships will be treated in the same way…Sen. Derek Kitchen, D-Salt Lake City, the only openly gay member of the Utah Legislature, said…“The world is changing,” Kitchen said, “and the church is changing alongside it.”” (more…)

Flabbergasted … “to overcome with surprise and bewilderment; astound”

That verb is the only way to describe my reaction to the Church’s News publication Melissa alerted me to earlier this week.

With utter disbelief I read over the official news release when LDS Apostle Dallin Oaks told a group of young people to basically bury their heads in the sand.

Every time I think I won’t be surprised anymore by what the Church says, I am proven wrong yet again.

This time around my heart absolutely sank as I read over the poor direction this man gave to young LDS members who are obviously finding unfavorable info on church history. (more…)

Today we’re looking at an article a friend (Melissa B.) alerted me to via Fox News who reported on an interview Wendy Nelson provided. You can also read this on Mormon.org. Ironic isn’t it that they’d keep the URL?

When Melissa told me about this I almost choked at the choice of words Mrs. Nelson used. Saying the prophet is unleashed reminds me of Revelation 20:7 when God says Satan will be loosed from prison. We’ve pulled a couple of statements from the article ~ to read the full article, see link below. (more…)

Today we’re looking at the latest Church News which by all intents and purposes would indicate something new was going on…such was not the case here.

It seems the Church goes out of its way to remind members of how awesome they are, and while doing so leave out the truth. (more…)

Revelation 21:14 “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.”

Church News, ‘Inside the Quorum of the Twelve, the Divine Calling Apostles Share with the Missionaries,’ July 27. 2017 “Elder Gerrit W. Gong, a recently called Apostle, calls it “a privilege” to meet with the missionaries who share his responsibility to “represent and testify” of the Savior and His restored gospel. The Apostles and missionaries, he added, also testify of the prophetic call of Joseph Smith, whose name would be known, according to prophecy, “for good and evil.” … “The missionaries help fulfill that prophecy every day as they testify of the Savior and the Prophet Joseph Smith—and the work he has done with the Restoration.” (more…)

Luke 19:41 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it”.

LDS Church News, ‘Prophet Visits the Holy Land,’ April 2018; “The reason why prophets are needed is because Heavenly Father wants His children to have the opportunity to come home to Him,”…“God has always dealt with His children on the earth through prophets, but He wants them to choose to come home. So those people who choose to obey the commandments [given through prophets] will have that opportunity to return home with their families in eternal life together,” said President Nelson…

…“This is a legendary land,” Elder Holland said. “It’s a spine-tingling thrill for me to realize that I’m in the company of President Russell M. Nelson, a modern prophet in every sense that they were ancient prophets [in Jerusalem in biblical times] with the same authority and the same priesthood and teaching the same gospel.”

Elder Holland continued, “Our living testimony today is we have a living prophet this very hour on this soil standing in this land teaching that same doctrine.”

Stepping away from tradition by installing the residing counselors into the upper echelon of Mormonism, the new prophet, Russell Nelson, chose Henry Eyring, and Dallin Oaks, as his two counselors. For the first time in almost thirty years, the LDS Church has ex-communicated a General Authority. After a disciplinary hearing, James J. Hamula, a member of the Seventies, was officially ‘let go’ of his duties.

Mr. Hamula was originally called to his position in 2008. He served in various positions, which included callings in New Zealand, until 2014. At that time he was transferred stateside to serve at the Church History Department from 2014-2016, and his final position as executive director of the Correlation Department.

LDS Church News, ‘Help Youth Gain a Testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith,’ 22 December 2016;

joseph-smith-jesus-christ-grove-of-trees If you’re  follower of Jesus Christ, you’ll be sure to pick up on why the LDS Newsroom Message is disturbing. As you might imagine, our hearts were saddened upon the reading of this Newsroom announcement. We’re wondering why they aren’t helping the youth gain a testimony of Christ Jesus and Him crucified?

Be sure to check out the date of this news release – it was December 22nd, the day before the anniversary of Smith’s birth,  yet there’s no mention of Jesus…hmmm… We’ll be looking at a few of Ms. Oscarson’s comments and ask a few questions. To read the article in full click on the link provided above. Here we go!
