A few days ago, I read an article on the Church’s news website that caught my immediate attention.
One of their GA’s who’s also a church historian said something that I’d never heard before so today we’re looking at his comment. To read their article in full see link provided below.
TheChurchNews.com “‘Millions shall know Brother Joseph’: Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr. explains how …
Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr., a General Authority Seventy and Church historian, analyzed the mark that Joseph Smith left, affecting generations to come. He noted that people have gotten to know Joseph Smith by different means.
Some of these include Doctrine of Covenants and Pearl of Great Price study, reading Joseph Smith’s history in the Book of Mormon or reading and praying about the book itself, visiting historic Church sites, as well as through technology and more recent historical publications.
Elder Curtis said, “By the time Joseph was killed by mob violence in 1844, the everlasting gospel had been restored and was rolling forth across the earth.”” [emp. added]
Romans 16:17-18 “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
1.The gospel didn’t need to be restored because Jesus promised it would never leave!
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
2.Millions already know Joseph but not because of his good works.
3.Ask a Mormon where they can read about Smith’s history in their premiere canon. I’ve never heard of anyone making this claim. Moreover, Smith’s history is nowhere to be found in the BoM.
Their news brief was just another ruse to confuse. We’re praying for the Lord to open the minds of all Mormons just as He did with the apostles.
Luke 24:45 “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures”.
With Love in Christ —
