January 3 — Church News, October 9, 1976 “Spencer W. Kimball stated: “We warn you against the dissemination of doctrines which are not according to the scriptures and which are alleged to have been taught by some of the General Authorities of past generations. Such, for instance, is the Adam-God theory. We denounce that theory and hope that everyone will be cautioned against this and other kinds of false doctrine”.” (more…)

“And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.” 1 Nephi 14:10

November 2 — Why Does the Church Need 17 More Temples? The Prophet Announces 17 New Temples at the October 2024 General Conference “The Church of Jesus Christ now has 367 houses of the Lord operating, announced or under construction.”

“Why are we building temples at such an unprecedented pace?” asked the prophet, who has announced 185 temples — more than half of all temples in the Church — since 2018.

“Why? Because the Lord has instructed us to do so. The blessings of the temple help to gather Israel on both sides of the veil. These blessings also help to prepare a people who will help prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord!” (more…)

‘For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.’ Romans 16:18

October 28 — Conference Quote: Divine Natures Can Make Us Gods. ChurchNews.com “For Latter-day Saints, the truth that everyone is a child of God is not metaphorical. “We truly believe that we are all literally the children of God.” …

During the Savior’s 40-day fast, Satan tried to tempt Him three times.

“In truth, Satan’s ultimate temptation may have had less to do with those three specific provocations and more to do with tempting Jesus Christ to question His divine nature.” (more…)

Church News, ‘First Presidency Letter’,  April 14, 2024 “The garment of the holy priesthood reminds us of the veil in the temple, and the veil is symbolic of Jesus Christ. … Wearing it is an outward expression of your inward commitment to follow Him. … You should wear the garment day and night throughout your life… you will have greater access to the Savior’s mercy, protection, strength, and power.” — Russell Nelson, Dallin Oaks, Henry Eyring (more…)

‘No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.’ Matthew 6:24

Church News, ‘First Presidency Letter’,  April 14, 2024 “Because covenants do not take a day off, to remove one’s garments can be understood as a disclaimer of the responsibilities and blessings to which they relate…In contrast, persons who wear their garments faithfully and keep their temple covenants continually affirm their role as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.” — Dallin Oaks (more…)

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:9

Church News, ‘First Presidency Letter’,  April 14, 2024 “As endowed members keep the covenants they have made, including the sacred privilege to wear the garment, they will have greater access to the Savior’s mercy, protection, strength, and power. … The temple is the gateway to the greatest blessings God has in store for each of us. The temple is the only place on earth where we may receive all of the blessings promised to Abraham.” — Russell Nelson (more…)

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

A cursory glance at the topics of the October 2023 General Conference seemed rather mundane at first glance. They kept saying their main theme was on the Holy Ghost, however, this was only partly true.

Their main agenda seemed to zero in on being temple worthy and to be worthy enough you have to pay 10% of your income. They used the word tithe and its derivatives 61 times. Any hint at what God’s Holy Spirit might be able to do for you was overshadowed by the panhandling ways of the Church. (more…)

Church News, ‘Think Celestial’, 1 October 2023 “Mortality is a master class in learning to choose the things of greatest eternal importance. …

Put Jesus Christ first, because eternal life is dependent on faith in Him and His Atonement.

The deceptions from the adversary will not end. Seek guidance from trusted voices. …

Thinking celestial will help build faith, as does living a virtuous life and spending time in the temple.” — Russell M. Nelson (more…)

Church News, ‘Our Constant Companion’, 1 Oct 2023 “Individuals can be taught by and learn from the Spirit line upon line, receiving what is needed until ready for more.

“We need the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. We desire it, yet we know from experience that it is not easy to achieve. We each think, say and do things in our daily lives that can offend the Spirit.” When that happens, remember the promise offered in the sacrament prayers. …

For those who are having a difficult time feeling the Holy Ghost: “Ponder whether there is anything for which you might repent and receive forgiveness.” — Henry B. Eyring (more…)

‘He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.’ 1 John 2:9

Church News, ‘Brothers and Sisters in Christ’, 30 September 2023 “The world is polarized by strong divisions that can influence an individual’s way of thinking, acting and speaking of other cultures, races and ethnicities as inferior, generating attitudes of contempt, indifference, disrespect and prejudice. “There is no place for prejudiced thoughts or actions in the community of Saints.”

“May we align our hearts and minds with the knowledge and testimony that we are all equal before God, that we are all fully endowed with the same eternal potential and inheritance. May we enjoy more the spiritual kinship that exists between us and value the different attributes and varied gifts we all have…” — Ulisses Soares (more…)

Church News, ‘A Voice of Gladness’, April 2023 “Temples bring joy to those who participate in ordinances and make covenants in them. Temple gifts include priesthood authority, families sealed forever and eternal life. These blessings are made possible through Jesus Christ’s Atonement. … On this Palm Sunday, praise God and His goodness. “What do we hear in the gospel which we have received? Truly a voice of gladness.”” — Kevin Duncan (more…)

Church News, ‘Hope in Christ’, April 2021 “The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles have counseled together in a spirit of prayer and with a yearning to understand how to help all who feel alone or feel they don’t belong. We long to help all who feel this way. Let me mention, in particular, those who are currently single.

Brothers and sisters, more than half of adults in the Church today are widowed, divorced, or not yet married. Some wonder about their opportunities and place in God’s plan and in the Church. We should understand that eternal life is not simply a question of current marital status but of discipleship and being “valiant in the testimony of Jesus.”8 …

For many years, we have talked about “young single adults,” “single adults,” and “adults.” Those designations can be administratively helpful at times but can inadvertently change how we perceive others.

Is there a way to avoid this human tendency that can separate us from one another? … Let us call upon our members who are single to serve, lift, and teach. Disregard old notions and ideas that have sometimes unintentionally contributed to their feelings of loneliness and that they do not belong or cannot serve.” — M. Russell Ballard (more…)

“Any of us who has prejudice toward another race needs to repent!”

Those words came from a statement published in the LDS Church News earlier this week. The Mormon prophet’s impassioned plea for peace, and repentance, hides itself in the shadows of history, not to mention their beloved canon; the Book of Mormon.

Their concern about racism falls way short, even by Mr. Russell’s own standards. Today we’re waiting for any sign of repentance from the Church for teaching the blasphemous theology they hold so dear. (more…)
