Church News, ‘Our Constant Companion’, 1 Oct 2023 “Individuals can be taught by and learn from the Spirit line upon line, receiving what is needed until ready for more.

“We need the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. We desire it, yet we know from experience that it is not easy to achieve. We each think, say and do things in our daily lives that can offend the Spirit.” When that happens, remember the promise offered in the sacrament prayers. …

For those who are having a difficult time feeling the Holy Ghost: “Ponder whether there is anything for which you might repent and receive forgiveness.” — Henry B. Eyring (more…)

Liahona, ‘The Promised Messiah,’ December 2022 “During His ministry, Jesus made no distinction between rich and poor, male and female, young and old, healthy and infirm. He did not shun those of different faiths or cultural backgrounds. He loved everyone. He loves everyone. … A popular Christmas carol implores, “O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel.”

We may not be captive in Egypt or Babylon, as were the ancient Israelites, but we are captive nonetheless—captive to sin and death. And like Israel of old, we hope for deliverance. The birth of “a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11) heralded the fulfillment of that hope. That is why we sing of Bethlehem, “The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.” … (more…)

General Conference, ‘Sisters in Zion’, October 2020If the past is prologue, at the time of the Savior’s coming, the daughters who are deeply committed to their covenants with God will be more than half of those who are prepared to welcome Him when He comes. But whatever the numbers, your contribution in creating unity among the people prepared for that Zion will be far greater than half.” — Henry B. Eyring  (more…)

‘For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.’ 1 Corinthians 14:33

Today we’re looking at more of the talk Henry Eyring gave at General Conference. His use of their canon from the book of Moses should cause great concern for those who listened to this man’s talk.

We pray they’ll stop to think about what he’s said, and question how Joe Smith’s claims could be true. To read his talk in full, see General Conference, ‘Sisters in Zion’, October 2020. (more…)

Atonement

Ensign, November 2008, pg. 57; “”[The] testing of our limits in priesthood service is made necessary by God’s plan to qualify His children to live with Him again forever. Heavenly Father loves His children…To qualify us to receive that gift, He gave us a mortal body, the opportunity to be tempted to sin, and a way to be cleansed from that sin and to rise in the First Resurrection. He gave us His Beloved Son, Jehovah, as our Savior to make that possible. The Savior was born in mortal life, was tempted but never sinned, and then in Gethsemane and on Golgotha paid the price of our sins so that we could be cleansed. The purifying can come only to those who have faith enough in Jesus Christ to repent of sin, be cleansed through the ordinance of baptism, and make and keep covenants to obey all His commandments. And there was to be a fierce enemy of our souls, Lucifer, who would with his legions relentlessly try to capture every child of God to keep him or her from having the joy of eternal life.”” – Henry B. Eyring
