“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Matthew 15:9
Church News, ‘First Presidency Letter’, April 14, 2024 “As endowed members keep the covenants they have made, including the sacred privilege to wear the garment, they will have greater access to the Savior’s mercy, protection, strength, and power. … The temple is the gateway to the greatest blessings God has in store for each of us. The temple is the only place on earth where we may receive all of the blessings promised to Abraham.” — Russell Nelson
Ephesians 4:14 “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”
Today we’re looking at part of a letter the Church published about a week after their General Conference. While the Church says/does a lot of unbiblical things, this letter was a doozy and worthy of attention.
Their letter talked about the importance of garments, going to the temple and yet another modification to their ‘Temple Worthiness Interview’. For now, we’re looking at something written by Nelson.
Someone on another site was talking about what the Church said that was really interesting. In part they wanted to understand where Jesus said that ‘garment wearing Mormons’ have greater access’.
We thought this was a great question as well!
We have other comments/questions about Mr. Nelson’s letter —
Did Jesus wear garments?
Why did he condemn the Pharisees and Sadducees for their wrongful attitude?
Why did Jesus declare that if they tore the temple down He’d raise it in 3 days?
John 2:19 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
Where in the Bible did it say ‘the temple is the only place on earth where we may receive all of the blessings promised to Abraham’?
As an FYI, there was no such thing as a temple in the days of Abraham. Abraham was born c. BC 2166. The first temple wasn’t built until BC 966. See Bible timeline for more info.
We’ll be looking at the Temple Interview questions as well as two other significant comments in their letter made by Dallin Oaks and Henry Eyring so check back soon!
Meanwhile, please pray for those who listened to the lies told and for Jesus to intervene!
With Love in Christ —
