Church News, ‘Think Celestial’, 1 October 2023 “Mortality is a master class in learning to choose the things of greatest eternal importance. …
Put Jesus Christ first, because eternal life is dependent on faith in Him and His Atonement.
The deceptions from the adversary will not end. Seek guidance from trusted voices. …
Thinking celestial will help build faith, as does living a virtuous life and spending time in the temple.” — Russell M. Nelson
Psalm 31:3 “For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore, for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.”
Psalm 48:14 “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”
Acts 17:24 “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.”
We have a couple of questions/comments about Nelson’s talk…
1.How does temple attendance build faith?
2.If we’re to put Jesus first why did Mr. Nelson say that members should seek guidance from trusted sources?
Isn’t God and His word a trusted source?
We found it ironic that he’d say, ‘deceptions from the adversary will not end’ and then insinuate the Church is trustworthy.
They’ve changed their minds on a number of issues. One only has to read their Official Declarations — Official Declaration 1, Official Declaration 2. The first one was to promise they’d stop practicing polygamy in 1890, which didn’t happen until May 1904.
The 2nd manifesto was to allow blacks into the priesthood. This was done because people were threatening to boycott BYU over the race issue.
Those declarations are in addition to the number of changes they’ve made to their sacred endowment ceremonies. To read more on that see Temple Endowment Ceremonies, Clothing and Oaths. We have an extensive list of changes they’ve made from the time of Joe Smith to present day.
3.How do members of the Church answer the obvious problem about the Lord not dwelling in temples made with hands?
If their god doesn’t dwell in the temple, where do they go to meet him?
When you speak to your Mormon friends/loved ones ask for their opinion about Mr. Nelson’s talk.
Be sure to express the concern you have for their spiritual well-being!

[…] Conference Quote: Seek Guidance from Leaders […]
“As does living a virtuous life and spending time in the temple”. Well that goes without saying… President Nelson has a lot of temples to fill.
