As an FYI, the GC talk we’re looking at today was delivered in October 2021 by Quentin Cook.
But Brigham Declared…
Joint Session of the Legislature: January 23, 1852 “I will remark with regard to slavery, inasmuch as we believe in the Bible, inasmuch as we believe in the ordinances of God, in the Priesthood and order and decrees of God, we must believe in slavery.” — Brigham Young
Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
Proverbs 19:9 “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.”
Psalm 101:7 “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”
The three Bible verses above are a very small example of what God thinks about liars. I can’t help but wonder if what God said ever bothers those in the LDS leadership when their lies find them out.
Mr. Cook didn’t attain to the position he holds through sheer luck. He’s fully aware of the Church’s racist history but chose to lie about it anyway. The crew that was imprisoned at Liberty Jail were there because of the problems they caused in Missouri. A quick search on the net will reveal his brazen lie. See Wikipedia for more info.
I can’t help but wonder what Brigham would’ve thought about Cook’s lie.
Please pray for Jesus to prompt LDS members to think about this man’s teachings and other contradictions they’ve heard from their leaders.
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
