As an FYI, the GC talk we’re looking at today was delivered in October 2021 by Quentin Cook.
General Conference, ‘Personal Peace in Challenging Times,’ October 2021 “I was recently assigned to dedicate a portion of historic Nauvoo. As part of the assignment, I was able to visit Liberty Jail in Missouri. As I viewed the jail, I contemplated the events that make it such a significant part of Church history. The lives of the Saints were threatened as the result of an extermination order issued by the governor of Missouri. In addition, the Prophet Joseph and a few choice associates had been unjustly imprisoned in Liberty Jail. One of the reasons for the violent opposition to our members was most of them were opposed to slavery.” — Quentin L. Cook
But Brigham Declared…
Joint Session of the Legislature: January 23, 1852 “I will remark with regard to slavery, inasmuch as we believe in the Bible, inasmuch as we believe in the ordinances of God, in the Priesthood and order and decrees of God, we must believe in slavery.” — Brigham Young
Proverbs 12:22 “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.”
Proverbs 19:9 “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.”
Psalm 101:7 “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”
The three Bible verses above are a very small example of what God thinks about liars. I can’t help but wonder if what God said ever bothers those in the LDS leadership when their lies find them out.
Mr. Cook didn’t attain to the position he holds through sheer luck. He’s fully aware of the Church’s racist history but chose to lie about it anyway. The crew that was imprisoned at Liberty Jail were there because of the problems they caused in Missouri. A quick search on the net will reveal his brazen lie. See Wikipedia for more info.
I can’t help but wonder what Brigham would’ve thought about Cook’s lie.
Please pray for Jesus to prompt LDS members to think about this man’s teachings and other contradictions they’ve heard from their leaders.
With Love in Christ —
Michelle

This can only happen because members do not study the history of their cult.
AMEN to that Glenn!
Anyone else think Liberty jail sounds funny? Oxymoron for sure.
As if visiting Liberty jail makes the church true. Now if one could visit Zarahemla you might have something. I think the only way to put the race issue behind them is to publicly denounce it, but that would mean they would have to admit the prophets and BoM are wrong. I guess it seems easier to make their god wrong.

I keep praying they’d see they must denounce all of it! There have been many who’ve left but there’s still many who refuse to bend the knee, as the saying goes…
The post scheduled for later today talks about the ramifications of those who’ve chosen to get out. PTL!
