LDS Apostle Contradicts BoM about Forgiveness

September 13 — Enos 1:5-8 “And there came a voice unto me, saying: Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed.  And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie; wherefore, my guilt was swept away. And I said: Lord, how is it done? And he said unto me: Because of thy faith in Christ, whom thou hast never before heard nor seen. And many years pass away before he shall manifest himself in the flesh; wherefore, go to, thy faith hath made thee whole.” — BC 420

The Things of the Soul, p. 116 “Forgiveness from the Lord is earned through great personal effort. It takes courage to face the reality of your transgression, accept whatever penalty is required, and allow sufficient time for the process to work. When that is done, you will be innocent again. The Lord said: “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins” (Isaiah 43:25).” — Boyd Packer

1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

_____

According to the book of Enos from the Book of Mormon forgiveness is granted because of faith, not great personal effort.

Telling two different stories about the same thing is called lying and qualifies as a false prophecy.

Ask a Mormon which story they believe. Is it the BoM or their apostle Boyd Packer?

Why would God tell this Enos guy these things 400+ years before Jesus Christ was born?

Also share what God says in 1st John!

With Love in Christ —
