June 19 – Ps. 73:24-25; “Thou shalt guide me with they counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”

I am constantly amazed how God knew every single thought of man even before they came into existence. He knew what Joseph Smith would write as ‘gospel’ for the people and has provided us with the tools to show the Mormons how once again the teachings of the LDS Church are wrong.

“We expect to have our wives and husbands in eternity. We expect our children will acknowledge us as their fathers and mothers in eternity. I expect this: I look for nothing else. Without it I could not be happy. The thought or belief that I should be denied this privilege hereafter would make me miserable from this moment. I never could be happy again without the hope that I shall enjoy the society of my wives and children in eternity”. Gospel Doctrine, pg. 314.

This is interesting that you find these doctrines. How odd to say that,”…I look for nothing else. Without it I could not be happy.” There are many “I’s” in this doctrine, which not only is false but is totally selfish.
Jesus said that there would be no marrying, etc. in Heaven. We Christians don’t think of going to Heaven and getting something for ourselves; rather we think of just going to Heaven to be forever with the Lord Jesus Christ. As a life-long Christian, I have yet to spend my time wondering what will happen to me in Heaven, what I will ‘have’ or what I will ‘get’.
Since going to Heaven is not something we earn but something HE gives in grace and love, we don’t dwell on what it will be like there. The fact is, that we are going and are sure of it, and that is all we need to know.
I absolutely love your insight on this Miss Sue. What a breath of fresh air!
I’ve often wondered if i’m the exception to the rule when it comes to this particular subject matter because your feelings and thoughts on this are exactly how I’ve felt and looked upon it. I’ve never dwelt upon what it’s going to be like because when Jesus said He’s going there to prepare a place for me I’ve just always figured there is no way I can imagine what it’ll be like because what I have here to compare with isn’t all that great.
Now mind you – I LOVE my life and enjoy being a Christian. I LOVE gardening, traveling and spending time in His word. Aside from those things I also know they’ll pale in comparison to what we have here (except His word of course). My imagination just can’t imagine what He’s created for us and I trust Him enough to figure all that out. I’m just thankful I don’t have to be eternally pregnant and that I won’t have MS. 😉
Thanks for sharing with us!

Paul put it best when he said that he would much rather be in Heaven than on earth… 2 Corinthians 5… and he didn’t say he wanted to be there with his wife
In another place he was wrestling with wanting to be here to teach the saints and going home to be with the Lord… and he knew that being with the Lord was much better (cuz he had been there!)
