Proverbs 18:2; “A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.”
Of all things. Really? Okay so I have MS and fight fatigue every day of my life. If Smith’s system really worked I could just give into my fatigue and end up being the smartest person on the face of the earth by the end of the year. Good grief.
Really? You are going to take a statement like this, with no real substance as to what actually occured, and claim it as eveidence of his character?
Joseph Smith was a great joker and a master of sarcasm. From the brief account given it is more likely that he was simply exhausted and intended to rest for the afternoon. His remark sounds very much like one of his jokes, laughing at himself that he was going to sleep, and making a light comment on the situation.
The entire entree reads “About noon, I lay down on the writing table, with my head on a pile of law books, saying: “Write and tell the world I acknowledge myself a very great lawyer; I am going to study law, and this is the way I study
it;” and then fell asleep.”
Honestly, it is rather amusing when you actually consider who is saying it, and the circumstances under which it was said.
