Finding Peace
John 14:26-27; “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
True to the Faith, pg 173; “Blessings from Attending the Temple – In addition to being a place where sacred priesthood ordinances are performed, the temple is a place of peace and revelation. When you are troubled or when crucial decisions weigh heavily on your mind, you may take your cares to the temple. There you can receive spiritual guidance.”
Also remember what’s said in Hebrews 13:5; “… he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
What could surpass the peace Jesus has to offer us? Nothing of course! If entering a certain building or traveling to a particular place holds power to supernaturally calm your spirit then why believe in Jesus? Why not just park yourself into that area and take up residence?
Does a temple have power to heal you? Do the ordinances you perform in the temple truly transform you from the inside out or are they a mere distraction for the time being? If your actions in a building makes you holy then what did Jesus’ blood dripping from the cross do for you?
Where is the hope in a building? Is it found in the stained glass windows or hand carved limestone walls? Is it because of the light fixtures, carpet or marble altars? What about the clothing? How do garments fulfill all righteousness before God and make you a friend of God and not an enemy?
“Things” can’t fix us. Only Jesus can do that! God through His Son Jesus coming here to die for us and then implanting His Holy Spirit inside of us is the cure. His power, His love and compassion toward and for us can do more than anything ever created.
What will you do if you’re in great need during the non-operating hours of the temple? To whom or what do you turn? Is it a bottle of pills or booze? The building can’t respond as we all know and mind altering quick fixes are just that. They hold no power.
The Bible tells us that when we accept Christ we’ve become new creatures in Him – 2 Cor 5:17 – and we can be transformed through the renewal of our minds – Romans 12:2. This is true healing and living a true life of peace in the Lord!
