Fruit of the Loins
2 Nephi 3:12; “Wherefore, the fruit of thy loins shall write; and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord.”
2 Timothy 3:16; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
We’re doing things a little differently today because of this unique subject matter that I’ve discovered in 2nd Nephi.
The phrase “fruit of the loins” was used 22 times in 2nd Nephi and in vs. 12 it was used 5 times alone.
2 Nephi 3:3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (3x), 11 (2x), 12 (5x), 14, 18 (4x), 19 (2x), 21
Does this sound inspired? Does it reflect what God wants for the average Mormon today to know and apply to their life? If so, how?
Exactly how were the writings to bring about peace and stamp out false doctrines when the only covenant mentioned in the Book of Mormon has been outlawed now – i.e. polygamy…
Specifically, what hope is there for a Mormon to grasp and hold onto in their daily life? What covenant is there between God and man that are listed in the Book of Mormon? There are no detailed accounts of how to enter a covenant with God and what the covenant may signify. All we read about are the wars that took place and they’re blessed because they’re white skinned people.
And why hasn’t the Book of Mormon (the writings of the fruit of the loins) stopped the contentions? If anything it caused contention!
