Jesus & the Father the Same?
Mosiah 3:8; “And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary.”
Ether 4:7; “And in that day that they shall exercise faith in me, saith the Lord, even as the brother of Jared did, that they may become sanctified in me, then will I manifest unto them the things which the brother of Jared saw, even to the unfolding unto them all my revelations, saith Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of the heavens and of the earth, and all things that in them are.”
D&C 130:22; “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.”
Isaiah 9:6; “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Even though Joseph Smith taught Heavenly Father and Jesus were one and the same in the Book of Mormon, it’s clear he had changed his mind by the time he started penning D&C.
How could they be the same and still be separate “beings”? And if they were the same then why has the Church given explicit directions they shouldn’t be praying to Jesus or feel they have a close relationship with Him? They’re encouraged to have a close relationship to their Heavenly Father…
