Millions Killed on Hill Cumorah
Ether 15:2; “He saw that there had been slain by the sword already nearly two millions of his people, and he began to sorrow in his heart; yea, there had been slain two millions of mighty men, and also their wives and their children.”
Genesis 11:8-9; “So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”
In July we took a brief look at an incredible claim in the Book of Mormon. The prophet Mormon supposedly wrote that 130,000 men were hewn down in a battle atop Hill Cumorah. While that is just amazing considering no archaeological evidence has ever been found, there’s an even more amazing tale in the Book of Mormon about other battles on Hill Cumorah.
This time around we’re going further into the BoM, but back in time; 1,800 years of time…
This story takes place not long after the Tower of Babel fiasco when God confounds the languages and scatters the people. Lo and behold, some of those people built themselves a few barges, shoved off the shore and landed in none other than the American continent. What are the odds you say?
Just wait it gets better…
So these people live here in the Americas and multiply exceedingly and they just so happen to have the same problems their descendants would have hundreds of years later. Just prior to 600 BC and the arrival of the Nephites, the Jaredites who had lived here for around fourteen or so centuries just so happened to kill themselves off as well.
And just so it’s understood and there’s no confusion with these two people groups…this final battle took place on where else but Hill Cumorah. Yep, you read that correctly!
Some two million plus people died atop and around that hill. What are the odds?
Now we’re up to more than 2,130,000 who’ve died a brutal death in an area of 236 acres. For the record 236 acres is .3776 square miles.
And if you read the text carefully in this book of Ether, there were 2 million mighty men, plus their wives and their kids. So if each man had just one wife and each couple had only one kid we’re now up to 6 million people.
I have just one question…
Why can’t they find any evidence of these people?
