God Changes
D&C 56:4-5; “Wherefore I, the Lord, command and revoke, as it seemeth me good; and all this to be answered upon the heads of the rebellious, saith the Lord. 5 Wherefore, I revoke the commandment which was given unto my servants Thomas B. Marsh and Ezra Thayre, and give a new commandment unto my servant Thomas, that he shall take up his journey speedily to the land of Missouri, and my servant Selah J. Griffin shall also go with him.”
Malachi 3:6; “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
If God can or will change in the simplest of things how could we ever trust Him with the big stuff in life? How would we ever know if we’re saved with an absolute certainty? How would we rest in the covenants He’s given to us thus far? The answer of course is that we couldn’t! However, this very example from the Doctrine and Covenants today is a prime example of what it’s like for all Mormons every day. Pray for them won’t you? God said it’s a curse to not know these things!
Deuteronomy 28:66; “And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:”
