Jesus’ Birth and Crucifixion
2 Nephi 10:3; “Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must needs be expedient that Christ—for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should be his name—should come among the Jews, among those who are the more wicked part of the world; and they shall crucify him—for thus it behooveth our God, and there is none other nation on earth that would crucify their God.”
Matthew 1:18; “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”
Luke 1:26-28; “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”
There are a number of issues in this one verse alone so let’s get started shall we?
1. The earliest known crucifixions were administered by the Roman Empire circa 337 BC. This word would hold no meaning for the Nephites or Lamanites here in the Americas in 559 BC not to mention that it wasn’t something in existence for another 200+ years.
2. Crucify and Christ are Greek words and Greek wasn’t a language until 323 BC.
3. Smith said no Greek or Latin was on the plates…
4. Mormons don’t believe Jesus is God so why would they refer to Jesus as God?
5. As we’ve pointed out before Christ was not Jesus’ name – it was His title.
6.”More wicked part of the world” is an English teacher’s nightmare come true!
7. No one knew about the Christ or the Messiah Jesus coming to earth until the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary!
