D&C 24:1; “Behold, thou wast called and chosen to write the Book of Mormon, and to my ministry…and thou hast been delivered from the powers of Satan and from darkness!”
Psalm 12:6-7; “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
If God told us through David that He preserves His word (notice it didn’t say will, but He does it already) then why is God now having Joseph Smith write another gospel that diametrically opposes what is taught in the Bible?
If God doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6) why would He suddenly present a job to Smith clearly demonstrating otherwise?
Furthermore, why is the phrase “chosen to written” used in this passage? Smith and company have historically claimed that he didn’t write the BoM, rather he translated it. If this is true then why does this phrase appear in their canon?
