Ensign, “Hearts Bound Together,” May 2005, 80; “When you were baptized, your ancestors looked down on you with hope. Perhaps after centuries, they rejoiced to see one of their descendants make a covenant to find them and to offer them freedom. In your reunion, you will see in their eyes either gratitude or terrible disappointment. Their hearts are bound to you. Their hope is in your hands. You will have more than your own strength as you choose to labor on to find them”. – Henry B. Eyring
1 Corinthians 15:29; “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?”
Wow, where do we begin?
In Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 it tells us the dead don’t experience what we do on earth so how could they show disappointment because you didn’t participate in an ungodly practice?
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6; “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun”.
God also told us in this passage there isn’t any other reward for them after they’ve died. With that in mind why do the leaders of the Church put such a guilt trip on its members?
Clearly Jesus taught there are no marriages in heaven, thus negating the need for the baptisms in the temple as well.
Mark 12:25-26; “For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. 26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?”
Here in the Torah we see specific rules in the Law that the priest isn’t to defile himself in any way with the dead so why are they speaking the names of the dead and performing works on their behalf in the holy temples if the Israelite priests weren’t allowed to do such things?
Leviticus 21:1; “And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people”.
This teaching is just one more way to keep people busy and shame them when they don’t live up to the lies of Joseph Smith!
God told the Israelites that participating in these things is a form of Witchcraft which was and still is abhorrent to the Lord!
Leviticus 19:31; “Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God”.
