Waiting for World’s End: The Diaries of Wilford Woodruff, edited by Susan Staker, Signature Books, 1993, p. 305; “Again Presdet Young said Joseph the Prophet told me that the garden of Eden was in Jackson Co Missouri, & when Adam was driven out of the garden of Eden He went about 40 miles to the Place which we Named Adam Ondi Ahman, & there built an Altar of Stone & offered Sacrifize. That Altar remains to this day. I saw it as Adam left it as did many others, & through all the revolutions of the world that Altar had not been disturbed. Joseph also said that when the City of Enoch fled & was translated it was whare the gulf of Mexico now is. It left that gulf a body of water.” [sic] – Wilford Woodruff
2 Corinthians 11:14; “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
Exactly where is this so-called altar in Missouri and when did God change the location for the Garden of Eden?
According to Genesis 2:10-14 the Garden of Eden is somewhere around the four rivers named in this passage of scripture; Pison, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates.
We know where the Euphrates River is because the name of it hasn’t changed. We also know where Ethiopia is located as well. From the maps I’ve read in my lifetime none of them tell me that Missouri is anywhere close! The best guess at where the Hiddekel was can be ascertained through the visions of Daniel and it’s believed that river today is the Tigris River.
As for the reference to Enoch…we feel it pretty much speaks for itself don’t you think?
We’re not marveling at the insight of Smith, but we are marveling at how he could come up with such outlandish stories!
