Teachings of Presidents of the Church, chapter 3 Plan of Salvation; “The plan of salvation, or code of laws, which is known as the gospel of Jesus Christ, was adopted in the heavens, before the foundation of the world was laid. It was appointed there that Adam our father should come to this earth and stand at the head of the whole human family. It was a part of this great plan, that he should partake of the forbidden fruit and fall, thus bringing suffering and death into the world, even for the ultimate good of his children.” – Joseph Fielding Smith
Mark 10:15; “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.”
If the gospel is a code of laws we must obey how does someone explain what Jesus said in the example above? Can a child who truly loves Jesus enter the kingdom without obeying a code of laws?
Why has the Church hinted around at the teachings of Brigham Young’s about the Adam-God theory when they’ve denounced it in the past?
Ron Carlson told me not long after I became a Christian the heart of Christianity can be found in Romans 10:9-10; “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
To that I give a hearty Amen!
How is a code of laws good news?
