The Church’s online statement that the chapter headings aren’t scripture is misleading. While they can technically say this, the truth is that they’ve changed the meaning of the context for the intro to 2 Nephi 5.
Removing, changing and rearranging words in a text to make it aesthetically more appealing is deceitful. You’ll notice how they removed an entire sentence describing Lamanites as having a skin of blackness and being cursed.
If someone glanced at the heading without reading the chapter they’d never know how racist this chapter really is!
