History of the Church 5:335; “I am not so much a “Christian” as many suppose I am. When a man undertakes to ride me for a horse, I feel disposed to kick up and throw him off, and ride him. David did so, and so did Joshua. My only weapon is my tongue. I would not buy property in Iowa territory: I consider it stooping to accept it as a gift.” – Joseph Smith, April 6, 1843
2 Thessalonians 3:5-8; “And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you”.
1.Not long before Smith stated he wouldn’t stoop to have land in Iowa he prophesied to his followers they should buy it all up.
2.What Christian would state what this man did? Obviously Joseph Smith wasn’t a Christian at all! To admit, publicly or otherwise, that you’re not a Christian is tantamount to blasphemy against the Holy Spirit for which there is no forgiveness.
3.The OT days are long gone. An eye for an eye was replaced with the age of grace and turning the other cheek. Luke 6:29
4.Galatians 5:19-21 tells us that behavior such as the kind Smith has exhibited here isn’t from God and leads to death.
