Ether 6:9; “And they did sing praises unto the Lord; yea, the brother of Jared did sing praises unto the Lord, and he did thank and praise the Lord all the day long; and when the night came, they did not cease to praise the Lord.”
Psalm 103:1-4; “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies”.
Why don’t we see any specifics in the BoM with anything? Today’s example is just one of hundreds of times Smith lifted phrases from the Bible to mislead. Mr. Sticky Fingers was at it again with this one.
From the Jaredites to the Nephites we see people making non-descript sacrifices and praises, but there are never any reasons why they’re praising God or why they’re making sacrifices. How is a Mormon to learn these things if they’re not taught about them in the ‘fullness of the gospel’, aka, Book of Mormon?
You’ll also notice there’s never any mention of how or why acts like sacrifices or praises sanctifies or why we can’t be sanctified without God’s intervention.
Couple more things…How did they even know what whales were at this point? If the barge was shut tight and they couldn’t see anything, how did they know about whales or if/when they would’ve caused them imminent danger?
Did these people not sleep? They praised their god all through the day and when night came they didn’t stop praising their god.
