Ether 12:14; “Behold, it was the faith of Nephi and Lehi that wrought the change upon the Lamanites, that they were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost.”
Matthew 3:11; “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire”.
That Moroni sure had some great insider info did he not?
Just eight verses beforehand he was plagiarizing Hebrews written circa 63-64 AD and now he’s plagiarized John the Baptist. Matthew’s gospel was written circa 80 AD.
Just how did he gain access to the letters he stole these writings from?
How did he know what John the Baptist said c. 30 AD and why did he apply that scenario to Lehi and Nephi who lived 600 years beforehand?
So here’s the Cliff Notes version of this scenario –
Moroni added his thoughts to an historical document that supposedly took place in BC 2,600 – that’s 3,000 years before this Moroni character lived.
Moroni plagiarized John the Baptist to make it look like Nephi and Lehi were baptized with fire in BC 600.
Does it make sense that Moroni who lived in America c. 420 AD would have access to these things?
Smith’s attempts at confusing the masses worked out well for him. Using the vernacular of those from the first century, he was able to draw people in and somehow keep them there.
