Church News, June 20, 1992, p.3; “Many versions of the Bible are available today. Unfortunately, no original manuscripts of any portion of the Bible are available for comparison to determine the most accurate version. However, the Lord has revealed clearly the doctrines of the gospel in these latter days. The most reliable way to measure the accuracy of any biblical passage is not by comparing different texts, but by comparison with the Book of Mormon and modern-day revelations” (Presidents Ezra Taft Benson, Gordon B. Hinckley, and Thomas Monson, “Letter Reaffirms use of King James Version Bible,” Church News, June 20, 1992, p.3).
Proverbs 30:6; “Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”
While there might not be any original manuscripts today there are more than 3,800 copies available and when they discovered the book of Genesis in the Dead Sea Scrolls they found that it read the same as our KJV today.
Now we have to ask: where is there any manuscript either original or copy of the BoM? If we’re to compare the Bible’s authenticity with the BoM, where pray tell, is it?
My BoM from 1976 reads much differently than the BoM the Church publishes today so which version of the BoM should we use to verify the Bible?
