LDS Manual, The Life and Teachings of Jesus and His Apostles (1979), pp 9-31; “There was in Palestine a couple, Joseph and Mary. They lived in Nazareth. They had traveled, evidently, from Nazareth to Bethlehem in order to pay a tax that had been decreed by the Roman Emperor. That was the ostensible purpose. She, heavy with child, traveled all that distance on mule-back, guarded and protected as one about to give birth to a half-Deity. No other man in the history of this world of ours has ever had such an ancestry—God the Father on the one hand and Mary the Virgin on the other.”
Jeremiah 6:13-15; “For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. 14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. 15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.”
Exactly what is a ‘half-Deity’? It sounds a lot like a god, not the God of the Bible.
Nowhere in the Bible do we find any reference such as this about Jesus. He alone is God and He created all things and He should never be spoken of in such a lowly manner as this!
If you’re LDS, when was the last time you referred to Jesus as a half-deity? For the record – Christians have never referred to Jesus like this.
