General Conference, April 2015, “The Plan of Happiness”; “…The commandment to multiply and replenish the earth has never been rescinded. It is essential to the plan of
redemption and is the source of human happiness. Through the righteous exercise of this power, we may come close to our Father in Heaven and experience a fulness of joy, even godhood. The power of procreation is not an incidental part of the plan of happiness; it is the key to happiness…” – Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
2 Peter 2:1-3; “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”
Many believe core doctrines of Mormonism have changed over time with the rewording of their stance on race and polygamy, but these theories are wrong.
Today’s Mormon dilemma is a good example of how the Church hasn’t changed. Many of their past declarations and manifestos presented to the public were merely a cleverly reworded PR campaign of their core beliefs to appear amenable for the sake of societal trends of the day.
They wanted to fit in and look ‘normal’ so they publicly denounced polygamy.
They wanted to fit in and look ‘normal’ so they publicly denounced racism.
They’ve brazenly left all teachings on both doctrinal matters intact within their beloved canon, and here we are in the 21st century. See D&C 132:1-4 and Moses 7:22.
The core doctrines of Mormonism can be summed up in two words. Sex and godhood. Some things never change – these are the same two ideologies Smith presented to the world in the 1840’s.
