Teachings of the Living Prophets, Chapter 2; “A good way to
measure your standing with the Lord is to see how you feel about, and act upon, the inspired words of his earthly representative, the prophet-president. The inspired words of the president are not to be trifled with.” – President Ezra Taft Benson
John 6:40; “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Rather than putting your trust in the ‘arm of the flesh’, a much better way to measure your standing with the Lord is to trust Jesus’ words in the gospel of John!
The will of God is for the lost to be saved and know His Son Jesus. We see nothing in Mr. Benson’s teachings intimating this is what he’d want for the Mormon people.
The words of Mr. Benson amount to nothing but an empty threat. Who is he to say his words aren’t to be trifled with?
I’ve looked everywhere in the Bible for any resemblance of another prophet who’d dare say such things, and I’ve not found anything. If you have, let me know! How very sad these men would dare say such things!
Outstanding research from this Ministry to use as an example of how members of the Mormon Faith are NOT to deviate from the words of the “Prophet”. Many have told me that they have had personal revelation that the teachings of the Prophet may not be for them…. ridiculous.
Hey there Lee!
You know, I clearly remember that as a Mormon I never took hold of any of the prophet’s sermons as a personal message to me. I accepted them as a broad rule/statement/commandment meant for all church members, but it wasn’t as if they were speaking for God who was speaking to me personally.
The concept of having a personal relationship with Jesus was something I kept to myself and didn’t share my thought process with anyone.
After becoming a Christian, I was floored to discover this is how Christianity works…
It’s a sad, sad, sad predicament they’re in, which is why all of us need to be diligent and continue to pray!
