They say the bad thing about telling a lie is having to remember everything you said. Apparently Joe Smith didn’t get the memo on that one.
Today we’re looking at three lies Mr. Smith tried to pass off as revelations from God, and in case you didn’t know, all three contradict each other. It’s strange considering he pronounced the Book of Mormon as the ‘most correct book on earth’…
Today we’re looking at whether or not God dwells in the hearts of the righteous.
The book of Alma says God dwells in the righteous –
Alma 34:36; “And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb.”
About a dozen or so years later, Smith contradicted his pseudo Nephite prophet, and prophesied God does no such thing. On April 2, 1843 Smith made the following revelation
D&C 130:3; “John 14:23—The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal appearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.”
D&C 130:22-23; “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us. 23 A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.”
That Satan, he’s a sneaky one all right…good grief. The key word in John 14:23 is ‘abode’. The transliteration for abode is ‘monē’, which in the Greek means tarry, residence, a staying, mansion. See where the sneaky comes in? Oh brother…
Smith, who didn’t speak Greek, had the help of his defrocked friend Sidney Rigdon, not to mention the expertise of Satan himself, to invent scripture so he could spin his web of lies. How tricky of him to use key words from the Holy Bible to contradict God, and use them in his own version of truth.
Meanwhile, Mormons have totally rejected the indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit and replaced Him with demonic spirits and angels of light. Take note of the way the Holy Spirit, who is no less than God Himself, is referred to as ‘it’ in D&C 130:23 ‘…A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.’ – [emp. mine]
John 14:23; “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
