Discourses of Brigham Young, p. 155; “The earth is very good in and
of itself, and has abided a celestial law, consequently we should not despise it, nor desire to leave it, but rather desire and strive to obey the same law that the earth abides, and abide it as honorably as does the earth. 2:302-303.” Brigham Young
Psalm 81:9-12; “There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god. 10 I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. 11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.”
My heart is always grieved whenever I read the teachings of Brigham and friends. Why would a man of God teach in this manner?
Where in the Bible did God ever personify the earth the way Brigham has done?
The earth can’t reason. Since when did the dirt you stand on know how to behave?
It may seem we’re being harsh on ol’ Brigham, but we’re not! When you look upon his other outrageous philosophies, it’s easy to see he wasn’t preaching Christ and Him crucified. He was preaching on yet another doctrine from the cornucopia of blasphemous doctrines of Mormonism. Remember, he also taught that gold and silver grow, people lived on the moon, and also that earth fell from space. Yikes!
