Our purpose in today’s post is twofold!
First and foremost, we’re asking Christians to pray for those caught in the lies of Mormonism. This is a never-ending request!
Secondly, we want to reiterate, and emphasize, our reasons for posting the info we do. We’re not here to bash the Mormon people. Our hearts are broken, and want nothing but for them to have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We provide the info in hopes they’ll allow God to open their eyes to the truth.
Students of Mormonism are very familiar with the numerous contradictions the Church has encumbered itself with over the years, but for those who espouse its doctrines, things are a bit confusing.
We’re wondering how everyday members of the Church, and missionaries too, deal with the historicity of the gospel they promote, and swear by? If you were a Mormon, what would you do with the following info?
According to LDS sources, the angel Moroni hand delivered ancient plates to Joseph Smith, and told him they contained the story of former inhabitants on the American continent.
Joseph Smith History 1:34 reads –
“He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from which they sprang…”
The official church website reiterates this same message in their newsroom –
“Latter-day Saints also consider the Book of Mormon to be a record of great ancient-American civilizations.”
The problem? LDS apostle Russell M. Nelson told members in November 2010, the BoM isn’t a history book at all.
“…invite a friend to read the Book of Mormon. Explain that it is not a novel or a history book. It is another testament of Jesus Christ…”
We have three more questions –
Is the Bible a book that provides authentic historical data?
If the answer is no, then why have you chosen these two books as a foundation to build your spiritual life upon?
Where is a reliable source to retrieve info on the life of Jesus if neither of the books are historically correct?
