Mormon Doctrine, p. 480; “This higher priesthood is designed to enable men to gain exaltation in the highest heaven in eternity. Paul says it is ordained “after the power of an endless life.” (Heb. 7:16.) The Prophet says, “The power of the Melchizedek Priesthood is to have the power of ‘endless lives’; for the everlasting covenant cannot be broken.” (Teachings, p. 322.) Perfection can be gained only in and through and because of this priesthood…Through this priesthood men become joint-heirs with Christ, receiving and possessing the fulness of the Father’s kingdom. “And all those who are ordained unto this priesthood are made like unto the Son of God, abiding a priest continually.” (Inspired Version, Heb. 7:3.).” – Bruce R. McConkie
The claims made in the LDS reference above are so outrageous, it’d be impossible to quantify the damage it has done to the unsuspecting. What is possible, however, is exposing the lies so we can proclaim the truth!
Today we’re taking a look at this to expose Smith’s fraudulent doctrines, and heresy. In his rewrite of Hebrews 7:3 he wrote,
‘…And all those who are ordained unto this priesthood are made like unto the Son of God, abiding a priest continually”.
As you can see in the legitimate translation below, Smith lied! The position of holding the priesthood continually doesn’t belong to mankind.
Hebrews 7:3; “Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.”
The only person holding the Melchizedek Priesthood is Christ Jesus and none other, making it clear man can’t hold an eternal priesthood. Furthermore, the priesthood for men was designed for us to serve God, which also means there won’t be people in heaven who will be serving us!
Here’s the full definition for ‘everlasting’ found in Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance –
“olam, o-lawm’; from <H5956> (`alam); properly concealed, i.e. the vanishing point; generally time out of mind (past or future), i.e. (practical) eternity; frequent adverb (especially with prepositional prefix) always :- alway (-s), ancient (time), any more, continuance, eternal, (for, [n-]) ever (-lasting, -more, of old), lasting, long (time), (of) old (time), perpetual, at any time, (beginning of the) world (+ without end). Compare <H5331> (netsach), <H5703> (`ad).”
Take a look at Hebrews!
Hebrews 7:14-17; “For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”
The everlasting covenant is self explanatory which should raise questions as to why Smith would lie when he announced a restoration was needed because God’s presence no longer strove on earth with mankind.
As for Hebrews 7:16; Paul never said the priesthood was designed to exalt men! Why would God tell people He is the only God if this were true? Isaiah 43:10-11
You’ll notice in Hebrews 7:14 it says Moses never mentioned the tribe of Judah and priesthood together. The sole mission of Moses’ life was that of works. It’s what God designed him to fulfill and his name will forever be associated with that one thing. With Jesus, however, the covenant was fulfilled in His very presence. Coming from the line of Judah indicated God’s salvation was through grace, not works.
Jesus wasn’t born to offer us a chance to do more works. He told us He came to set captives free! If a life of more works was the mission and goal of Jesus coming here, it would mean that God lied.
Also take notice of the wording in Hebrews. Whenever it spoke of the Melchizedek Priesthood, it referred to it as a singular office.
Did you know?
The name Judah means ‘praise’ or ‘to praise’. Collectively speaking, the name Judah also refers to, and is another word for, ‘Jews’. Although the majority of the Israelites had rejected God, the Benjamites, Levites, and Judah were the still left to praise God.
Luke 10:21 “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.”
So what’s the Holy Melchizedek Curse?
Someone mentioned it in a comment to a video on a YouTube channel and I am curious about its “full implications”. The comment was:
oh the holy melechezedek curse. in my house it was just a few small words or a look from dad to bring my poor mother into line. we all knew the husband would call the wife forth on the morning of the first resurrection, and if he didn’t, there were plenty more acceptable wives where that one came from. what kind of hell hole marriage is that? my dad was already playing god. my mother was the victim. actually i was too, but that’s another story.
