2 Timothy 3:15; “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
This morning I saw a post on someone’s FB page from the Moroni Channel I wanted to point out to our readers.
As Christians we’re called to be diligent, honest, discerning, and loving.
Now, sometimes it may seem as if the loving part of our demeanor isn’t showing forth, but I can assure you, this Christian writer loves the Mormon people more than words can say. I also vividly recall what it was like being LDS and feeling like I was being ‘persecuted’ by non-members. However, if no one had shared the truth with me even when it hurt my selfish pride, I’d still be a Mormon today.
It’s our job as Christians to warn others of dangerous teachings, in a loving manner, and this goes for all Christians. If you’re a Christian you should consider yourself an apologist. You don’t have to post on blogs, you don’t have to own a website, or run a ministry, but all Christians are called on by God to expose lies. And we need to do this every day, as Satan never takes a day off. The Lord asks a poignant question that I pray we all consider –
Psalm 94:16; “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?”
As mentioned above, we need to do this every day and today my friends, is one of those days!
Yesterday I had just finished up some work, and at the end of my day, came across a handful of verses from the Book of Mormon maligning our sweet Lord’s work. I bookmarked the references thinking they’ll come in handy in the future, and moved on.
Then lo, and behold, this morning while rummaging around on Facebook, I came across the ad you see on the left. Now typically, I tend to just ignore the many things the Church puts out because they do this 24/7. However, this particular ad was screaming lies that should be addressed.
When I read their ad, little did I know I’d be using the BoM references so soon!
Now the ad specifically states:
‘The Book of Mormon Supports the Bible’.
We’re not sure in what way this was meant, but the Mormon references I read last night certainly wern’t showing support for the Bible in any way, shape, or form. As a matter of fact, these BoM verses are decrying the idea anyone would consider the Bible as a sufficient guide for Christians.
The following list contains the few verses I came across and you be the judge. Do these support the word of the Lord? Why would a true believer call down a curse upon the head of another believer? This is exactly what Nephi did by proclaiming ‘wo unto him…’.
Oh, how we’re praying for you the Christian, as well as the Mormon people! We pray you’ll stand firm and be diligent in using full discernment the Holy Spirit has anointed you with, and have the conviction to denounce Mormon lies while doing so in love!
2 Nephi 28:29; “Wo be unto him that shall say: We have received the word of God, and we need no more of the word of God, for we have enough!”
2 Nephi 29:6; “Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible. Have ye obtained a Bible save it were by the Jews?”
Words of Mormon:11; “And they were handed down from king Benjamin, from generation to generation until they have fallen into my hands. And I, Mormon, pray to God that they may be preserved from this time henceforth. And I know that they will be preserved; for there are great things written upon them, out of which my people and their brethren shall be judged at the great and last day, according to the word of God which is written.”
